My son has taken more of an interest in my plants than anyone else in the family, and is learning the names of most of my house plants. To make a long story short, he found a plant at Lowe's that he really wanted, but didn't tell me til later and now they don't have it. I'd really like to encourage his interest in plants, so if anyone has a purple velvet / purple passion plant they'd be willing to part with, please let me know and I'll do my best to work out a trade with you.

I'm closing this thread for now. I still haven't got one in hand, but have a couple of offers to pick one up for me at a local-for-them Lowe's. Besides we've just been blessed with a mean cold snap! Not the best weather for plant shipping.

I just discovered that there's a variegated one, too! He'd like it as well, if anyone knows where I can find one. My son said he sure appreciates the help finding these! I think he may have found a new hobby!

I've been looking for this one also. It used to be so common in our family when I was a child and everyone would pass around cuttings to each other. Now, there seems to be none around. Will check out our Lowes here also.

I would love to get the variegated one too. If anyone finds a source for one, please let me know. I do have the regular variety but think it's too cold to ship now. I just harvested seed from it though if you would like to try that. I would be glad to send you some.

Well, wouldn't you know it, Margo, our weather has turned and it's supposed to be quite cold here over the next week or so. They're even mentioning snow for the middle of next week (though I'll only believe it when I see it), so perhaps it would be better not to ship one right now. It has been so warm up til now. What luck! I'm going to continue my search until the cold snap is over and I'll get back with you then if I haven't found one.

The purple one is awesome! I see them at Lowe's all the time and seriously consider buying one. :) I keep telling myself to hold off as I have too many plants now. LOL My new house has no window sills??? I will have to fix that! I have not seen the variegated ones or didn't know what they were.
We just installed all new windows in our house, 21 of them! My husband put the regular size window sills in them, 4 inch or so, I guess? The last one he did I had him make much wider, and now I've informed him that he has to go back and make all of them that wide. Sweetheart that he is, he's happily agreed to do so as soon as he has time.
I've not seen the variegated one at Lowe's, but it's on the Exotic Angel website. I'll definitely be on the look out for them, and will pick them all up if I find them. Surely I could find homes for them here at DG! Ya think?
