Johnny Cakes

Supplies:
· 1 cup corn meal
· 1 teaspoon raw sugar
· 1 tbsp. salt
· ½ cup water
· 1 lb. of bacon
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the corn meal with the salt and sugar.
2. Add water and mix until you get a nice paste. Form the paste into patties and set aside.
3. Fry bacon. Remove bacon and fry the cakes in the bacon grease until golden brown.
4. Wrap the patties in brown paper and then again in brown wax paper.

Parched Corn

Supplies:
· Fresh Corn on the Cob
· 1 tbsp. Lard
· Frying Utensil
Instructions:
1. Using a canteen half, plate or small skillet, melt the lard.
2. Cut the corn off the husk and place in the pan.
3. Fry until the corn is soft, then eat.

Cornbread Recipe

Supplies:
· 4 cups Cornmeal
· 2 teaspoons Baking soda
· 2 teaspoons Salt
· 4 Eggs -- beaten
· 4 cups Buttermilk
· 1/2 cup Bacon drippings
Instructions:
1. Combine dry ingredients; add eggs and buttermilk, mixing well.
2. Stir in bacon drippings.
3. Heat a well-greased 10 1/2 inch cast-iron skillet in a 400 degree oven for 3 minutes or until very hot.
4. Pour batter into hot skillet. Bake at 450 for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Vinegar Pie Recipe

Supplies:
· 1 c. sugar
· 3 heaping tbsp. all-purpose flour
· 1 c. cold water
· 3 egg yolks
· 1 whole egg
· 2 tbsp. butter
· 6 tbsp. vinegar
· 1 (9 inch) pie crust, baked
Instructions:
1. Mix sugar and flour in saucepan.
2. Add water, egg yolks (reserve egg whites), whole egg, butter and vinegar.
3. Cook until thick.
4. Pour into baked 9 inch pie shell.
For Meringue:
1. Beat reserved egg whites until stiff.
2. Add 4 tablespoons sugar, spread over pie.
3. Brown meringue lightly.
Sourdough Bread Recipe for Bread Machine

Supplies:
· 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
· 2/3 cup water
· 1 tablespoon lemon juice
· 1 tablespoon butter, melted
· 3 1/4 cups bread flour
· 1 tablespoon sugar
· 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
· 3 teaspoons dry yeast or 2 3/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
Instructions:
1. Do not use delay bake opition with this recipe.
2. Bake on french bread cycle.
3. Have water between 70 and 80 degrees.
4. Add all ingredients in order listed.
5. Make an hole in flour for yeast, don't let yeast touch water.
Cambric Tea Recipe

Instructions:
1. In a tea cup, combine milk and water in equal portions.
2. Add dash of tea
3. Add sugar to taste
