I got this brug as a trade for some of my plants. No name, no color, but I have a Y and three buds. You can only really see the largest in the photo. The holes in the leaves are from hail that we had a few weeks ago.
I nearly let it die by not fertilizing. It had become yellow and was not putting out new leaves, now I give it fertilizer every week and it is growing like everything.
I have done a couple more trades for brug cuttings and they are doing very well. I am waiting for next summer when hopefully I will have a number of blossoms.
I've got a Y; I've got a bud(s)
Yessssssssssssssssss ! Congrats on your upcoming beauties ;-)
congratulations! love the serrated leaves!
Congratulations. Isn't it exciting? I'll never forget my first "y"......I felt like I was the momma and was just told I was going to have a baby (or babies)! LOL
That's great, George! Will be looking forward to seeing pics of those blooms.

That is what I read on this forum. In my case the Y appeared and very quickly the buds.
Looking so good George. In your zone you will be overwhelmed with flowers I would think. How great!!
I do get frosts down to about 28 degrees, I will watch the forecasts and move it under a roof those nights. The first usually occurs Thanksgiving week.
WooHoo. How exciting!
Let us know what color it turns out to be.
I am so hoping we have a mild winter. Last year we only had one frost all winter and it came in Nov. I am living dangerously now, I haven't even gotten my hoophouse up yet.
Mr. Weatherman said we're going to have a warmer than normal winter with less rain than last year. Works for me! LOL I'm listening for frost warnings though just in case, because the greenhouse is coming together very slowly. You'd never know it was fall here. There's a warm mild breeze coming through here, and the moon is so big and bright you'd think you could touch it. Heavenly!

Boy, me too, I hope the 40 degree prediction holds until I can get a few plants in tomorrow. I like living on the edge with the brugs, I like them out in the extremes in the weather we have, I just don't want to kill them, whew. They can wilt to the ground in the hottest of the summer, then get back up and bloom for two weeks. But, when that freeze burns them, it's all over until next spring...I'm considering starting to whack next week. Decisions, decisions, lol.
I know what you mean Sherry. I am so enjoying my plants now. Every day is a gift.
I bet I have asked you this Mary, but how far are you from the Bay area? I wonder if your weatherman was thinking of us here too in his forecast.
Poway is between Orange County & San Diego :-)
closer to SanDiego

Hi George !!
Great job :)) If those are the cuttings we traded for, all of them are from above the Y on the parent plant. So happy for you, they look great...mine are doing very well also :)) Good to see you in the forum !! I think the only unknown cutting I sent you was a white flower with a very strong, sweet scent. One of my favorites just for the perfumed evening air.
God bless, Margo

This one is a plant that I got earlier in the year. Those from you have all grown except for one. Another that put out a branch and leaves suddenly lost almost all of its leaves. I have no idea what caused that.
The Datura are sprouting and several have gotten their true leaves. I suppose that I need to pot them up fairly soon, they are in a flat right now.
San Diego is 3 miles west of me in Poway. Never more than a few frosts in a year, in the early morning about half past dawn. Have had frost damage, but usually no plant death.
