Well, my main interest is Passiflora, but Amophophallus is the other and I had this one bloom today, isn't it wierd?
Mark
This vine grower had something a little different today
Wow!
That is awsome! Is that a 15 gallon container? The flower must be HUGE.
Does it really smell as bad as they say they do?
-T
Well, It first started the smelling process yesterday and while it did smell like something was dead when I stepped out the door, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It may have been more active however, earlier in the day when I wasn't home. Yes, it is in a 15 gallon pot.
Mark
Wowzers! That is an awesome specimen, Mark!
:) Donna
Congratualtions Mark. A very, very cool flower, and a great accomplishment.
Erick
It's kind of pretty and very unusual looking.
hiya Mark,
When does the alien life form emerge?....lol. Good to see you amigo.
don
Hi Mark. I will be looking for the bright lights over North Park tonight lol!
Janice
It doesn't have to smell THAT bad to attract pollinators, as they have better smellers than us human beans do.
Ugly thing---I agree---looks as if aliens could hatch out of it!
But makes sense there'd be plenty of plants with carrion aroma like this one, given how many flies and other insects there are that prey on dead stuff!
Man alive! That is 1 very wierd flower. You have 1 of the coolest plant collections of anyone I know and I'm still a sickening shade of green due to envy. LOL
I sure hope you get a chance to root some passiflora cuttings so we can do some trading like we talked about forever ago. Have you recovered from your greenhouse collapse fully? It sure looks like it, you're truly a gifted gardener.
JD
JD, things are going much better, but haven't rooted anything lately. Hoping to get more motivated in the spring.
