My crocosmia is very similiar to the plant that moretz posted earlier. here:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/555812/
reddish orange blossoms, under 3 feet.
In the pic below, its almost spent,
I'm going to start digging it up today hopefully along with all the other things that are leaving my garden or need to be moved. I would also be willing to trade.
If anyone has any helpful advice on digging up crocosmia (hint hint, moretz) please let me know!
CLOSED: More Crocosmia for anyone that would like some.
What else will you be parting with? I'd be interested in looking at what you are going to trade.
renwings
i dug up the whole clump and then seperated them,i did cut the foliage off before i seperated it was alot easier to seperate i hope this helps?
what else are you getting rid of please let us know
moretz
Are you doing some for postage? If so, I'd love to have some!
Please LMK!
Yvonne
I will send away all I can. For trade or postage. I need to figure out how much that is going to be, by the way . . .
I am digging up unidentified lillies and peonies as well, but they are promised to someone else. I'm going to divide my tall showy sedum. It looks similiar to Autumn Joy, but can't garantee that is what it is! It gets so big so fast!
So that's it, crocosmia and sedum. Do people like using those flat rate boxes at the PO? I don't have any idea what this is going to weight!
I would be interested in some for postage or I have peacock orchids to trade. PLMK.
Thanks.
renwings,
I would like to have some Crocosmia, for postage, if you have any left.
I do have some Stokes Asters, Maiden pinks, Basket of Gold, Dropmore Blue, Ribon Grass, the miniture yellow irises, assorted Hybrid Coral Bells, no Purple Palace, St. John's Wort, if you are interested in in any of these for trade :)
LeBug
Renwings- would love some of your crocosmias...emailed you with some things I have that can send your way too...
shuggins - have been searching everywhere for peacock orchids, and can't find any (limited bulb supplies in Florida) Can trade bananas, mother in law tongue, crinum seeds (asiaticum).
MerryMary
I'm going to mark this as closed for now, to make sure that everyone that has requested will get a good portion. I'll dig them up, divide them up, and let you know how much to send. I'll keep you posted!
KayJones, did you want crocosmia too?
LeBug, ribbon grass sounds pretty, what does it look like?
MerryMary, I have been thinking about trying my hand at orchids. I will take you up on that, please send info on their requirements!
Ribbon Grass gets about 3',varigated with cream, green and a faint dark pink stripe, I grow mine in full sun and some in afternoon shade,
I looked it up and it said they would grow in shade too and it is called
Phalaris Arundinacea-tricolor :)
Renwing...the peacock orchids aren't really orchids, they have leaves similar to the crocosmias or gladiolus....but beautiful white scented flowers!
MerryMary
Peacock orchids=Acidanthera. :)
I'd love to try the ribbon grass and the "orchids" :)!
renwings... I am the one with the Peacock Orchids. I will Dmail you. Thanks, Sheila
renwings, u have Dmail, thanks :)
Oh, sorry shuggins. I am a little absent minded!
Sheila, Do you have more of the peacock orchids? I'd love some!
Mary
Yes, Mary. I sent you Dmail. Did you not get it? I had a couple of questions about the banana and wanted to know how many you waned. Check. If you didn't get it, send me a dmail.
Thanks,
Sheila
OKay, I don't want you to think I have forgotten you! I have finally got all the crocosmia seperated and dried out. There was a ton of it, so everyone will get a good share! I am rounding up boxes and dividing it up so I know how much to ask you to send for postage.
1. YTRN
2. shuggins (who sent me a trade)
3. LeBug (who sent me a trade)

All:
Moretz sent me $7.70 worth of crocosomia and it was too many unless you have a farm!!!! So I have extra, and renwings, I would list them as $3+ size is jumbo and the $7-8 size as superjumbo! Is this stuff invasive?
Whoever has ribbon grass, may I have some too? (But the ground is frozen, you fool!) It sounds lovely.
xxxx, Carrie
In some areas, crocosmia is invasive. It looks like to only person in the plantfile that didn't like trying to control it lived in LA. For me it is well behaved. It does spread, but not like crazy.

You should plant these bulbs in clumps because they support each other (its foliage is grass-like) so what i will be sending will create a large clump or several small ones. This clump that I have dug up was a very large grouping that had formed a matt full of little babies. So I will be sending developed bulbs and lots of babies too.
Carrie, you have Dmail :o)
Good News! The packages are on their way.
Renwings, may I have some sedum for postage when things thaw? I would love that.
xxxx, Carrie
Yeah, I can send you some sedum. I can dig it up whenever you'd like it. I don't a feeze right now, in fact its downright balmy for Christmas this year.
I got my crocosmia today, that was a lot thank you so much, I'm going to plant them today, they will be right by my house so I think they will be ok, it's going to be nice for a few days here....Thanks again, can't wait to see the blooms!
Lea
