One of my clients' gave me 2 pots with dahlia plants in to overwinter. Is it possible to keep the plant going till next spring, or do they need a "downtime" of the foliage dying back? Like tulips, daffs, etc. Never had anyone want to keep dahlia's going overwinter in the greenhouse.

I've only stored the tubers along with other tender bulbs, but I think a rest would benifit the plants. Fewer hours of sunlight may use up carbs stored in the tubers and cause for a smaller plant come spring. I'm not certain that would be the case, but I would'nt risk it. Good luck, Neal.
