List of ROOTING COOL TEMPERATURE loving brug's

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi,
I have searched withhin the last few weeks for information on brugs who like to be rooted/grow in cool temperatures ?

Since such a DATABASE would be sooooooo helpful for all beginners I hope that alot of gardeners in this forum would like to share their experience and just put down names of brugs who actually like it cool. Are they such ?

PLEASE contribute with your knowledge :-)
Brigitte

PS:I would start but I am just beginning to root my own cuttings.

Bump....
I am bumping this up since nobody replied in over 2 weeks.

Would LOVE to hear from some other northerners and their choices of brug's that are successful for us.
Thanks,
Brigitte

Brigette.

'All 'my cuttings are overwintered in glass jars of water in a fairly bright ,average 60 degree room.

The idea is to keep them alive as rooted cuttings through the winter . I would not have room for all of these potted up.

Next year they can be planted.

They will grow quite a nest of roots but top growth is subdued by the cool temps as if in a semi-dormant state.

A lot of us do this when indoor space is limited.

Thanks to Monika for getting me started on this as it is the method she uses.

I think most brugs like to be rooted in about the same temp with the possible exception of the sang family and arborea who might like it cooler. I have some things in water right now...not my best way of doing things and if they croak....too bad. I just don't have the room that I want to share with plants this year. I have my favorites in a special spot for the winter, but thought looking out the windows might be fun for a change.

Brugie , I agree on the b.arborea. I put these in a very cool window .

Since she is fussy , as soon as I saw nubbies I poked it into some soil and she is growing.

btw
Not doing sangs anymore .... BTDT lol

Brugie, How about b. versicolor . Maybe they like a little warmer ('-'?)

I have a v.peach I would love to see bloom again.

They might do better a little warmer, but I don't treat them any different from my others. Just don't have the time nor do I feel the need to separate them when they root okay along with the other stuff.

brigitte, just "brug adventures of a newbie" - - - ISABELLA must be one of the easiest brugs to root. tap water in a goblet worked wonders. rosamond, on the other hand is not as easy. i don't think the one laura sent me is going to make it. though i'm still crossing my fingers.

how are your cuttings doing?

Gardiner, ME(Zone 5a)

Annapet,
most of mine are doing good, the matter of fact I took pictures today of the ones I am going to pot up today, including Isabella.Am trying to keep good records

Laura was out of Rosamond already.
The same with with Connie which I received, didn't get any of the ones with Rosa names or Rosie.Maybe next time or next year.
Annapet,I will post the pics of the rooted ones later,
Brigitte

looking forward to your photos!

i am also going to keep good records. i think it will be in blog form. from the classic threads, i read on pollinating and tried my luck on a few of my white seedlings. a few took, and forming PODS. for record keeping purposes, i'm calling my white parent seedling (mg white) - - - i hope i'm not breaking any brug laws...must read up on that.

i hope you had a fabulous thanksgiving.
