Watering

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Just wondering, I repotted another EA,found another lacunosa, trying not to kill. So I repotted it in better soil. I left the rootball alone. It was sopping wet. I added leca to the bottom, used a coffee filter to hold in the clay. Is that okay? For the new soil I just used a spray bottle to get it wet. Put in the lacunosa and didn't water it. I'm afraid trying to water the new soil will completely kill the plant. Does it sound like this was a good plan? How long should I wait until I water it?

Heather, if you take the plant out of the pot and leave it on some newspaper, papertowell it absorbes alot of the water up from the plant. If it were me I would wait to water for a couple of days. Sounds like everything should be fine. Where did you find leca?

I went to a web site, google search Kelly's Korner orchid supply. It is labeled hydroton. I'm almost positive this is where I got it. It is irregular shaped which I heard is good. I also order perlite from there. She sells the big perlite. Always quick shipping. I am very happy with it. Maybe I should see about adding it to the Garden Watchdog. I'm happy with her supplies. Check out ebay, they usually have leca. I bought such a big bag, it should last awhile.
