I would like to try, but I'm so new at this! I have only a few (okay, so is "noids" the same as "no identifications"?) Every little guy I pick up here and there doesn't have a name. I just know it's an AV and it's pretty.... ) I have just begun trying to do leaves, and I've only had one plant make new rosettes to separate (which I tried for the first time this last weekend! I took one planter and made it into three plants.) So, I don't know if I can do enough by spring to participate! I found a place in my house that they seem to love (even though it is on the dining room table.....) and I get nice blooms. If you're patient till the weekend, I will try to get some pictures posted (even though there's no names....)
AV's have a soft spot in my heart: my Great Aunt Penny and Great Aunt Adah used to grow them like crazy when I was a very little girl. (And I'll be 50 before the end of the month) :o)
So, should I try?

Sanna, it sounds like you're just the person to take Allison up on her offer! There's no rule against noids in the swap, but for the cost of shipping a box, she says she'll send you some named varieties to start for spring also.
Either way, go for it -- please post on the Secret EB thread, and give us an idea of your preferences.... maybe somebody will have one for you that looks like one of your great-aunts' favorites!

I can send you just bby plants if you like, I'm sure they'd be big enough for you to take leaves from by April or I can send leaves if set now they may also be ready to trade. Or I can send a box of some of each if you like :)) You can join in the Easter Bunny swap and then again have another chance to add to your collection. Okay, so I've been hiding.... I would love to participate = I just hope I can do what I'm supposed to do! I've only divided and repotted one AV, and have just recently tried to do a leaf. So.... So Violet Treasure, I'm not sure I understand. Are you offering these for shipment now? And all I have to do is pay the postage? What is the postage? I'm ready to sign up. (thanks to another reader of this forum for pointing me in this direction)
As the handle says, I'm a begonia kind of a gal myself BUT I do have about 5 struggling violets. one not so struggling. I think because it's in a self waterer. As you can see, it's still happy. That other white pot has alsobia? It was a gorgeous 6"pot that hung down over a foot and a half. But what you see is what's left. Those are the babies I salvaged after I managed to kill the mom.
Anyhoo. Let me know what the deal is. oh, and by the way, I do have my FIRST set of baby leaves sprouting on a leaf I got to root! A first in over 16 years of killing AV's!
And if you take Allison up on her offer, you must join the fun over in the Secret Easter Bunny Trade, too! :-)

Albosia Cygnet is one of my favorite plants. I bought a small one a few years ago it was small and stringy. Before long it was about 1/4 and I nursed it. I have grown so many now in full 6-12 inch pots and been able to share dozens of plants. With Porper care it will bloom fascinating flowers non-stop. Your other plant is very pretty too. :))

Nice! mine says a. danthaflora? Cant read my own writing! The other one came looking that nice. I've had it about 2 months. The mere fact that it's not dead is amazing. Like I said, I'm sure it's due to this type of pot!
I don't know if I have anything worth trading. Most of mine look pretty poor (except that one I showed above). Who ever my trade partner would be, would end up quite disappointed! I suppose I could do it if I bought some. They aren't expensive - something like $1.99.
I'll see how these leaves go and then decide if I'll subject a victim to my plantlets/leaves

Your's is still a Cygnet there are a few different named ones. I grew
Iris August Cygent too and they look about the same to me and same flowers. Your's will grow the same as mine it's the same family all Cygnets !

I would just like to publicly THANK Allison for her overly generous offer here. I received the AV Lotto!!! Allison sent lovely plants and leaves, all with names and related info. Well packed with lots of TLC and lots of thought! Having been a frequent buyer of plants on eBay, I fully expected something like a few leaves, a couple of 'plantlets' or something much less than what arrived in my box (and believe me, I've spent more on junk plants via eBay than the shipping on these AV's). When Allison says she'll send a nice assortment, she MEANS it. It is the generous nature and loving kindness of 'strangers' on this site that humbles me. I am still doing the happy dance over my new violets and cant believe my fortune. Now I don't feel badly about signing up for the Easter Swap. I know I'll have something to trade with!

I am interested in sending you postage. I want to participate in the Spring trade but I only have 2 plants, both NOID.
The heating element in the package is a plus. Last week was 70 degrees, today it is 40.
I checked on some the companies but most sellers are not sending plants until May. Linda

Even here in Flrodia our high was at 3 PM today 67 degrees. Tonight low 40's . I shipped two boxes last week with just insulation they were fine. Last year I shipped year round with Heat Packs all was fine. I use insulation I buy big rolls it's thick and I buy 60 hour heat packs.

This offer is closed except to all the people I already emailed, and we sent up the offer already. The offer was also to be for people active in the African violet group and did not have enough named African violets to join in our Easter Bunny Swap.
All people paid , or paying and I have promised boxes will still be getting them.
I am just ending the offer now to any new people or people that are not active in the African violet forum .
I am glad I have been able to help others :)) So far 32 plants and 14 bags of leaves each having 2-5 leaves in each bag all named Av's have shipped out , many more to go. The only reason I can do this is God gifted me with leaves, soil-less mix, lights, stands, electricity each month, fertilizer, pots... and 4-9 months of his help and others helping me to grow them. They have all been grown in our little one bed room single wide trailer. I am blessed .
