I am looking for some plants/rhizomes/seeds of wasabia japonica. Anyone know where I can purchase them besides the FrogFarm (I think they are in Oregon). They have plants for sale but are quite expensive @$7.50 per plant. Search engine on this site did not find anything. help, help, help..Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I checked them out. Unfortunately their plants are even more expensive than those sold in Oregon. But at least I now know about them and may use them for other plants etc.

Ruth,
do not waste ur money on wasabi, if there is no river next to ur home. wasabi requires fresh flowing water and plenty of humidity to grow wasabi. a friend in Texas and i tried it once. total waste of money.
I have to agree- it's too difficult and costly and they'll most likely not survive. I'm in Tucson, not Cochise, but even in Oregon they have shadecloth over them, judging from the photos I saw on the web when I decided i had to have some. I finally talked myself out of it. There are a few places in Australia or New Zealand that will sell it to you, but the shipping will probably kill you even if the price doesn't.
If you DO get some to grow for you, please prove us wrong and let us know how you did it!
