shredded and regular on same stem...

Wondering if the weather could have something to do with this happening..I have never had a shredded before and now I have 2 plants that are giving shredded flowers and regular flowers on the same stem..both are yellows. Anyone have any ideas on this?????

Howdy Kris, The beauties you gave me are in full bloom now; three different yellows and "Snowcone" really filled out and full of blooms. I sent you an email. alice

Earthling-I've heard they do that when it is really warm and the flower pushes out, and opens too fast. The bloom sticks to itself and the flower forces itself open, and it rips...
I'm not far from you, and we've been having unusually warm weather these last few weeks...
Maybe that is it?

earthling, earlier this summer I had the same thing, I felt like it was something to do with the plant, the "shredded" blooms were more like the leaves had split.

My Jamaica Yellow used to do that. I thought it was ugly anyway and deep sixed it. I think certain ones just do the split thing.

My suavs and suav-cross type brugs have done it. I think it's a weather thing. Like yours, though, it's only happened on my yellows, though the only pink suav that has bloomed for me is Pink Favorite.

Thanks for all the replies..I did find a white doing the same thing today, I also believe its the weather causing it, we have record breaking heat wave once again this week, but at least the brugs are finally blooming. I will enjoy them shredded or not..LOL
