This is an example of the mostly green wood cuttings I took and started in bubblers Oct. 31. It has nubbies all along the stem. I should pot them up now, right?
I whipped up a new soil mixture today. Took half of a new 2 cu ft bag of Miracle Gro Potting Soil and mixed in two full bags of orchid mix and an 8 qt bag of Perlite. The resulting mixture is very light and free draining. Think this will work for the Brug starts from the bubbler?
The ones I potted up previously in regular MG soil don't look so hot. Most of them have lost all their leaves and the smallest (really tiny - maybe 1/4" diameter) looks like it is giving up the ghost.
But as a plus - and this is for you Hoya nuts like me - I started a hoya in there with just one leaf on the stem and it's cranking out roots to beat the band! Pictures to follow, I hope...

Bubbler Experiment going well
Barb, thanks for the potting soil formula...I really dont like Miracle Grow and thought if something was added it would be alot better..your additions really sound like it would help....I will keep this post for use this spring...Judy
Barb that is a nice elephant ear there. Did you root it in the bubbler?
I always let my brug cutting actually have a root showing before potting them up. Probably either way would be fine.
You're welcome, Judy. This may sound weird, but it feels really rich when you pick up a couple of handsfull of it... chunky and loose. I found an inexpensive tub with a lid at WallyWorld and dumped everything in there, then mixed it up with a small shovel. When you add the two bags of orchid mix in there it jacks up the cost a good bit, but boy does that addition make it a nice mix.
Thanks, GaRedClay. I got that one from a very generous gardening friend. It has unusual markings, doesn't it? I put it in regular potting soil, but am planning to transfer it to a larger pot with this new potting soil I mixed up.
Oh, and to clarify one thing, I had the Hoya in the bubbler, not soil.
