Looks like 'Medora'. It is classified as a shrub type and can get woody as it ages. I lost mine last winter due to dark conditions and probably too much water but they are fairly common so I snatched a couple this summer.

Butch, GLAD you stopped by!

Juttz, I'm guessing overwatering. I think you can take a look at the soil composition and make sure it is well drained and not soggy.

Hey Laurie, thought I'd give it a try since you twisted my arm. Reading the original post, it looks like they just wanted an ID instead of horticultural advice. One of the Yahoo group members won a first place prize with his 'Medora' at one of the last two National shows. It was huge. I wish I could post his picture but with all the copyright laws....

We could use your expertise here! I think you will enjoy hanging around! No go over to the collections thread and get a listin' I know your list will out do mine hands down.

Oh and yes, I concur - It looks like 'Medora'.

Hey kids,

We have that begonia listed as 'Lois Burks' - common name Trout Leaf Begonia. I'm not sure where we got it. I see everyone here calling it 'Medora'. Does anyone have good info on either name?

Searching the world over for true names.

Dave & Chris,
here's a link to Lois Burks, http://absastro.tripod.com/hkey/hpicother_az/LoisBurks.jpg
Lois has larger leaves for sure.

you can also view 'Medora' http://absastro.tripod.com/hkey/hpicother_az/Medora.jpg

And here's the main link to the pictorial key to cultivars

Lois Burks has orangish flowers and larger leaves. Medora has narrower leaves and light pink flowers and can get tall.
