mk is that from Exotic Angels? If so I think that they mislabel Midora as Tom Ment. At least mine was (I got it at HD) I've heard this about them - my hoya were labeled incorrectly too.

Ahh........the nerve of those 'Exotic Angel' people! I should know, by now, to raise the occasional eyebrow to some of their labelling. [hmmph!]

Thanks for the correction! I completely agree that this would be 'Medora,' and as a matter of fact, had seen it before and thought, "Wow, alot like 'Tom Ment!'"

What a shame.......the mislabelling......hate that.

Whe I bought mine, I thought Cool, Tom Ment, don't have that one. But gee, this sure looks like Medora. Whey wouldn't put the wrong label on it, they are pro's! Not.

Either way, my Medora is big and lovely! Wish I could say the same for Martin's Mystery :-(

Not too way, Crazii, we'll get you fixed up. =) Any good at rooting with beg. leaves?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Not so much, well, I take that back I have several cane leaves that rooted, but then I found out that it will never likely produce a plant so I tossed all but Art Hodes which I think isn't a 'cane' per say, but a shrub variety (I think?) (Looks like 'Morocco, Orococo and Boomer)

Have had no problem with rooting canes and rhizos
(see the 'nursery'), In fact my mother plants are hacked to death I've started so many. Will upload a shot of the potting bench I took yesterday.

Have a few plants, Lali. LOL. So is that Begonia carolinafolia in the second one up from the end? In the front, left? How big does that one get?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

no, that's your b. thiemei.
here's the same shot of Ramirez, and you'll see b. caroliniafolia in the foreground. I don't know how big either will get. I just got them this year, but I can consult a book of mine and see.

Nice plant ! I need mini ones !

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Rob's Violets sells miniatures. Most will stay small. Also my fav little one is 'Fiji Islands' (Logees has it)
It's a sport of Cathedral. And to look at it from the underside you'll see why.

Oh that's so cute. Do you have it plants in the ground ? Thanks for the info. Allison

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

No, it's in a 4" clay pot. Roots very easily too!

Aurora, TX(Zone 8a)

Ooooooooh, I dig that 'Fiji Islands' you've got there....Crazii! If I were closer, um, I'd really dig..........lol. It's DARLING! Great.......another begonia I just HAVE to have. ;-)

Wow Lali, can I come shopping at your nursery?!!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

you just might be able to soon, I just bought a cloning machine and it's already filled with begonia cuttings (needed for trade items!!!)

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

oh boy, guess I better get going with cuttings of my things here so I can have suitable trades to offer. I have a windowsill full of coleus cuttings and some plecanthrus cuttings from Kell that I need to pot up.

ok now, I hate to be dumb, but what is a cloning machine and where can I get one? LOL!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

We're actually having some conversation regarding cloning machines here http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/556468/

Essentially, it is a rooting system that provides needed nutrients and oxygen to the plants while they are rooting.
take a look at the one I bought http://www.groclone.com/pc-12-1-groclone.aspx , but there are others avail. some on Ebay some in catalogs (like charlies http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/index.cfm?page=_search)
A google will turn up some too.

This type (a do it yourself model -very like some sold on eBay) http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/498781/#top sprays liquid (sometimes mixed with hormone stimulator and/ or something else but dont ask me what) on the stems from below.

Attached photo shows my baby begonias well on their way to rooting.
