I got this baby brug a couple of months ago and still have planted it. Shame on me! The tag says "Candida Double White", but the leaves are unlike I've seen before......they're fuzzy, furry or hairy (take your pick) which makes the leaves feel soft. Obviously this baby didn't bloom yet so I don't know for sure the colors of the flowers. What kind do you think it is?
NEED BRUG ID
Double white has fuzzy leaves.....I bet you cant wait to see this one bloom...Judy
I've had one for years that I bought marked the same way. It also has the soft fuzzy leaves. It was a prolific bloomer, so I hope you have the same thing. It even bloomed in the winter here. Not that we have much of a winter here. LOL
You and I are in the same zone, I hope it is one that will be as healthy here, wonderful foliage...what color?
looks like my candida. but mine hasn't bloomed yet. keeping fingers crossed...
I'm glad you did go out in the rain, Moonglow. It's gorgeous!
:) Donan
lali, love your brug forest!
donan, thanks.
I have a baby from Mary that gets petted every day when I go out the front door.
that's pretty much it. a pink, a white, a yellow, a candida, and two peaches and cream. not shown are blooming suavolens and Dr. Seuss (no blooms but big)
Luckily some DG members wanted my suculent cuttigns and I'm getting over a dozen new brug cuttings in trades! Yea! With the help from kell and others, I should be well on my way to my new addiction. As one of my trading partners said " brugs are like begonias, once you have one, you have to have them all! " (paraphrased here) but i couldn't agree more. My greenhouse smells so good! and that's with only two blooms (see her in the center of the attached panorama of yesterday's clean-up project)
Sorry to get off topic....
But there is a huge difference Lali, LOL, brugs get to be trees!!! Huge trees. Begonias are so small in comparison. I was at a nursery today that had a couple begonias. Oh dear......................
I just made a fast visit to the Begonia Forum Lali, what happened??? LOL. It exploded. I am going to get a bowl of Pho and a glass of wine and cruise it in a little while. I just can't get that catalogue out of my little mind. LOL!! I love it when I am so full of lust. LOL. I need a life.
CDW are grown all over here. Very popular.
Hey wait a minute, b. luxurians can get to 8' (saw it myself in SFO and MAUI!) and b. 'Paul Hernandez' stretched for at least 8' (rhizo's) Does that count? even tho it was along the ground?
Nice combination with brugs and begonias. You can have the brugs shade the begonias underneath, right? (at least that's what I keep telling myself!)
At least it sounded logical at the time I told it to myself.
oooh which begonias did you see? any good one's? Which nursery? Weren't you getting rained on?
Yep, we've had a busy day in this forum. What is pho and which wine? I just bought a nice bottle of port (had to go wine tasting for a few minutes, one lucky trader is getting wine for plants but shhhhh cant say who and cant do it again, this was 'one of those special' trades) So I'll join you with my port, but have to see DHW. (that's desperate house wives in case some are not in the 'know') So i have to log off for now.
Good thing about Napa Valley, I'm less than one mile from at least five wineries! Woo Hoo! Lucky for me my drink/drug of choice is plants or I'd be in big trouble!
Cheers to all,
L
LOL Lali. So true, but those are freak begonias!! No rain here, I spent the afternoon outside in Alameda at the huge antique show, Antiques By the Bay!!
Pho is a tasty Vietnamese soup. Great for winter especially!!

No wonder I know about this soup, on this page it says:
In the U.S., especially in the Bay Area the number of Vietnamese Pho restaurant is quite large. There are at least 30 Pho restaurants in San Jose alone.
I am drinking a tasty Chardonnay! We love Napa!!
Let's chat begonias over on our new forum! LOL
love pho, kell.
definitely pho kind of weather now.
Begoniacrazi, I couldn't get your photo to enlarge, but it looks like you have a varigated brug in that forest. What kind is it?
That brug is peaches and cream. but I'm no expert. I bought it on ebay very early this spring. It's a whopping 12" tall now, one is a little taller but not much. Kell tells me they need to be potted up and fed more. They didn't get much food this year, i was too darn busy.
