Peruvian Daffodils (Hymenocallis festalis) - WANT

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

I just saw pictures of these, and would I ever like to have one! Does anyone have any extras that they might be willing to part with? I don't have anything for trade (won't until next summer), but would pay for shipping, of course. Wait, I do have some hollyhock seeds as well as some gaillardia seeds, but no bulbs or plants for trade.

This is really a gorgeous flower.

I got mine at costco last spring. They were very reasonable.

Unfortunately, we don't have a Costco nearby. Not even reasonably close. :-(

Celina, TN(Zone 6b)

I went out Sat and got bulbs at lowes, walmart and fred's. Fred's had the best buy 4 bags for 5 dollars. I found some white cherrfulness and St. Patrick's Day daffs. My walmart and lowes is about a 90 mile round trip. Don't get to go often.

I'll check Walmart this Thursday. Not sure when I'll get to Lowe's. The closest one is an hour away.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7a)

Wall-Mart or Lowe's will not have the Peruvian Daffodils, since they are only available in the Spring.

Thanks.

KB, also note that these aren't hardy for us. I planted some at the townhouse (zone 7a), and they didn't come back, so you'd have to lift them. That might also affect their availability at your local stores. :-(

They really are amazing flowers, though!

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I knew they weren't hardy for our area, but for some reason, I thought maybe I could do the 'amaryllis' thing with them now. Maybe not...

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

sorry, haven't got a clue about forcing them.... If they're like the ones I had, the "bulb" was this enormous tuber (like twice the size of a really huge yam) and would've been a challenge to pot up! The reason I'm a little unsure about the identity of what I had is that I didn't get a translation with them, just fell in love with the picture over the bulb bin, pointed & paid!

Think I could get my exchange student daughter who lives in Ecuador to send one up this way? Or bring a couple with her when she comes for our oldest's wedding next summer? ;-)
