I have 5 good-sized night blooming jasmine (Cestrum noctunum) plants that I will be cutting back as they are taking over the windows. Most of the cuttings will be from green stems, which I have have had good luck with rooting. I will have at least 15 cuttings so you're more than welcome to have a few.
Postage will be $5.40 as these will be sent via priority mail the same day they're cut.
CLOSED: Night blooming Jasmine cuttings for postage
Will they grow as house plants? I'm not in a good zone for much of what grows in 8b. Or are they already house plants? (duh.....?)
xxx Carrie
I would be interested in trying night blooming jasmine. I can send postage via paypal, if convenient for you. thanks
Cannot pass up a fragrant treat for the schnozz in summer evenings - would love some too. Am sending you D-mail.
Carrie, I must confess - when I sowed seed from http://www.jlhudsonseeds.net/ a few years ago, they came up like lettuce, and I put enough seedlings out on my street steps "Free to Good Home" to perfume the whole community. The following year, I planted some of them in the garden (in partial shade - sun probably fine, too) where they made 5' x 5' shrubs and emitted the most incredible scent around twilight. The confession is that I did not get them indoors that fall for overwintering.
So, thank you Emily, for offering.
Karen
PS - I received a d-mail after posting this, so thought I'd explain myself a little better. I do remember that morning on the day of my first 'puter job - had to ask my supervisor how she got that cursor to move around like that! (She said she liked the way I didn't argue about orders, so kept me around awhile - hmmmm)
When you click on the Hudson link above in this post, there's a menu at the top of the page you come to. Click on the word "catalog" on it. Emily identified the name of this jasmine in the first post in this thread as "Cestrum nocturnum." So, click on "seedlist CE - CL" (or whatever the alphabet range is that includes "cestrum nocturnum"), and then you can scroll down to it. I have always had wonderful luck germinating Hudson's seeds, and he is very generous with much of his seed.
Hope this helps.

will you take stamps or a money order as my paypal hates me lately.??
Just discovered a large infestation of spider mites on plants around the jasmines. :(
I can't send out cuttings that may be infested, but I do have 3 small plants that I rooted and I can take a cutting off of a plant that lives on the other side of the house. That will equal 4 cuttings/plants so going to close this thread.
Yes, these will grow fine as a house plant and prefer bright, indirect light. These are much smaller so should fit inside a small priority mail box for $3.85. Yes, I accept pay pal, money order, stamps, or check.
Emily, since you have so few, I'll withdraw - let someone else have an extra for insurance. Thanks for offering anyway. I think I'll mosey over to JL Hudson for seeds - apparently they germinate easily without special procedures.
Emily, I will withdraw also and hope somebody else can benefit from your generosity. My neighbor two doors down has a huge one and I went over there this afternoon and got about 20 cuttings. If 1/2 of these take I will be more than set.
So funny, twice before while walking by her house I wondered what that delicious scent was. Kind of heady, but then again, I love gardenias, so I must be into those strong fragrances, lol.
thanks again for sharing with us all.
I'm still interested - can you take a personal check? I have a memory of waiting in the horrible rush hour traffic in Cairo and street vendors selling jasmine bracelets or necklaces like leis and the whole line of traffic smelled like exhaust and hot pavement.... and jasmine.
xxxxx, Carrie
mine should be there soon i hope. seems the mail letely is delivered by the snails. hehe

Grandma had a stroke and is not doing well so I haven't been on dg much in the last couple of weeks. Cuttings are going to tomorrow and I'll mail you the confirmation numbers.
