My fourth attempt

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Yesterday was a good day, I also found this curtsii, this is my fourth and last attempt. I don't plan on repotting it, just leaving it in the EA soil. I did however remove the saucer from underneath the pot to let it dry out a little.

That is a beauty. Where did you find it?? Good luck with this one.

Wow...that IS a beauty. My advise is to keep it warm and don't water until it starts to feel quite light. (I think Debbie said she only waters those EA plants every 2 weeks). Then don't saturate the soil ball, but just give it a sane amount.

Nice one, Heather. I've wanted one but I'm afraid I would end up drowning it. That leaf pattern is remarkable.

Heather, that is beautiful! Good luck ... may the hoya force be with you!
Did you get that at a home depot? If so, I'm runnin' right over to mine tomorrow.

I have had great luck not watering from the top ...I set the pots in water untel I feel the soil getting wet at about half the depth of my finger...I then hang in the tub ...the soil will keep pulling the water up but not to the point of the top being really wet !!! Have done this for a couple of years on my EA pots.....Sandyc

What a beautiful plant Heather, good luck with it. I'd love to have that one but after reading about all the plants that didn't make it....

Ann, everyone, yes, I did get this at Home Depot. I check different home depot's randomly, I got one curtsii a few weeks ago at one, then checked a different one Friday, and wa la, they had two in their garden department. That is why I decided to check out the garden store, I saw people getting nummerloides, so I figure some nursery must be supply them. I imagine a lot of the greenhouses in different states get supplied by the same growers. Did that make sense? I am going to be very careful with this one. If it doesn't make it, I'm done with the curtsii! Thanks for all of the support. Be forwarned, if it makes it to the spring, I'll have some cuttings, hopefully for some trades!

Oh, you brat!! (j/k you, lol!)

That's what mine looked like when I got it...couple of years ago.
It is no-more!!

I totally agree w/Sandyc above, though....Try resisting watering from the top.....some of those EA plants that are tightly clustered in the pot like that do *really* well with bottom watering....no water from the top at all....I do this often with 3 or 4 plants, myself.
Hadn't considered it when I lost my H. curtisii...learned from my experiences!

Dang...if *your* HD had those, the one closest to me should...but I can't go there!!!! AArrggh....torture.

H. curtisii is one of my favorite all-time plants!

It's a beauty, Heather....best of luck...hoping the *fourth* time's a charm for you!
