I am going to pack up two boxes of unnamed daylilies in flat rate boxes for two newbies who have joined Daves after Sept 1.
The box will contain at least five varieties of daylilies in shades of gold, peach, and red. There will not be any "ditch" lilies in the box (unless you specifically request some). Each clump will be labeled as to what it is. I can fit about 10 clumps in a box.
I may also dig up some Orange Beauty cannas, yellow 4 oclock tubers, and Yellow Flag Irises, so if you want a few added to your box, let me know. The cannas are hardy in zones 7 and above.
To receive a box, you must send me $8.20 (to cover postage and Delivery Confirmation) by Paypal this weekend. I'll be mailing the packages out on Mon morning. I'll mail to your Paypal address, so make sure your address is correct at Paypal.
If interested, let me know.

CLOSED: Daylilies for Newbies
ButterflyChaser,
Hi, I just signed up as a member about 5 minutes ago and came across your post. How's that for being a newbie!! I'm still learning all the rules (gosh...there's so many of them) so if I screw up, please forgive.
Anyway, we built a house 3 years ago and have 2.6 acres, partially wooded. About 1.5 acres is lawn. I'm going broke trying to fill up the yard with trees, shrubs and plants. I prefer perennials coz I have fibromyalgia and they're a lot less work than having to replant annuals every year. I can deal with pruning and watering, but not digging. My hubby has to do that for me.
I can pay using PayPal. What email address do I use?
BTW, we live in GA, 7a on the map.
Blessings,
JoAnn
OMG Nancy !!
I just read this post and never knew that 4 oclocks had tubers, I couldnt figure out why mine didnt come back from last. And this year I had such Beautifull I planted. So I went outside and and got my pink ones dug up and tomorrow I will dig the rest cuzz its to dark now, I just wanted to say Thanks for posting about the tubers, I learn something new everyday. LOL
vicki
Vicki, you shouldn't have to dig the tubers in your zone. I believe they're hardy to zone 5, not sure, but I think so. I'm in 7a and never dig mine. They just keep coming back. I want different colors so I'm trying to weed out some of the yellows so I can grow red, pink, and broken colors.
Four oclocks are some of the first plants I ever grew. And one day, I looked out and saw the hugest moth I'd ever seen. He was fearless, wouldn't back off and insisted that I back up and get out of his way. Having never seen anything like that before, I backed up and went back in the house until he was done.
Later that evening, my brother and I were sitting on the porch and I was telling him about the huge moth. We sat there for a while and then suddenly, here came that moth again! I said, "There it is! Is that not the biggest moth you've ever seen!"
My brother looked from me to the moth, stroking his chin thoughtfully. And then he said, "Well, yeah, that's about the biggest moth I ever saw, but you know...where I come from...we call that a...hummingbird." Then he fell out laughing at this newbie gardener who didn't even know a hummingbird! LOL
NancyAnn
Well Nancy LMBO here,, That is the cutest gardening story I ever heard of LOL. As I read it the first time I laughed and hubby looked at me like " hmmm did she take her meds today?" LOL So I read it to him and he laughed. lol
Anyway
I planted some broken colored ones last year and none came back this year. I planted seeds this year. So I am going to dig them up just to be sure. I grew some beautifull pink ones and the limelight ones and they were gorgouse*(spelling) this year.
Next year I am going to watch for the "MOTHS" on mine . LOL
I didnt see any this year on them.
Vicki
Great story NancyAnn...thanks for putting a smile on my face.
Ahhh, NancyAnn, thanks for the laugh!
I was amazed when I started gardening, how aggressive the hummers were about their feeder - I'd be on my knees weeding, and they'd come along, and divebomb me until I got up and moved away far enough that they felt safe to feed.
I officially joined on .................... August 31st. But it might have been late in the day. Please advise - I don't want to be sending you $8.40 and have you pay the paypal fee and somebody else has already got them.
All the daylilies are spoken for now. I'm sending out three boxes for postage and then I'm sending all that I have left over to a friend in FL who keeps getting smacked by the hurricanes. So I think it's safe to safe, I've just cleared out a big area to put some of my new daylilies in.
Thank you guys for helping move out the guys that no longer interest me.
