CLOSED: Petunia - Semi Hardy - See Picture

(Zone 7a)

I have seeds of this petunia I would like to trade for another pretty petunia seed. I suppose it is
semi- hardy, as it has been frost many of mornings and it is still blooming profusely. Thanks!

Wish I had to share. It is pretty, almost appears to be like Salpiglossis.

Kim, that is a pretty thing!

I'm actually starting to wonder about this Petunia. I was under the impression that Petunias are annuals? It has snowed and been cold all week. I went outside today and the Petunia is VERY much alive. I bought it in to study it some more. I suppose it will continue to grow and I'll set it back outside next year.

Well I'm looking for Blue if anyone has any???

Kim, I've got blue petunia seeds I'll just send you. They are a deep blue, if that's OK. The picture makes them look Campanula blue, but they have a bit of purple to them, as well.

Ooo Ahhhhhhh! I love it Carol. Should I send the ones I have in the picture?

Kim,
I too have petunias still blooming. Mine are the old-fashioned vining type. I think it just might be a micro-climate in your yard where the conditions are still right. Mine are in a wine barrel and are just now beginning to succumb to the cold, whereas the ones in other areas are gone.

Do you have enough seed of yours to trade for a few of mine? These have a lovely fragrance as well, the old-timey almost vanilla-like smell in the evening. I wish I had a pic of them but you can see several good pics of them in the Plantfiles. Click here http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/56/index.html

Kim,
Yipee!! I'll get them out to you Monday!!

me too

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Yes, Kim, I wouldn't mind having some of your seeds, as well. It looks very much like the color plum in a mix of the "Ice" series: http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/84328/ I've had good luck with my blue petunias coming back true, and for some reason, the blues are very fragrant.

Old fashioned vining petunias are great. I've purchased mixes that were purple, pink, star, etc, and I've traded for the pink variety. Another old fashioned re-seeder was salmony red. Petunias always seem uninteresting plants until they bloom, then everyone oooohs and aaaahs over them. They come in so many colors!

These blue petunias were in the city baskets I did in 2004, so I harvested lots of seeds and they were not likely to have cross pollinated with anything else. I started some from seed last year and they looked pretty much like their mama.

(Zone 7a)

Ok Weez I'll get yours out tomorrow too. What else can I send you? What ya looking for? At this point I probably have it. I should be ashamed with all these kind of seeds I have....LOL

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Yeah, oh, shame, shame! If you should be ashamed your your seed collection, I should be burned at the stake for mine! LOL! I've been trading for some new varieties of genuses I know grow well here. I'll have a little more of an idea what else I need when I spend a half day digging through my private seed tote stash! Meanwhile, since I'm sending you blue petunias, you should check my tradelist to see what else you might like.

I think we're both worthy to be hung! ha ha ha ha

Kim,
I know I promised I'd send your seeds on Mon but it has been raining here. I usually let my pets re-seed naturally in the barrel they're in so I don't collect the seed. It rained Sun and Mon so I was unable to harvest any seed pods. It is sunny today when I went out to do it but the plants were still wet. I did collect you some seed and have them now drying out. They seem to be OK but I want to make sure they're good and dry before I send them. I think a couple of days should do the trick. I can send them Thur.
I hope this is OK?

WG or KG,

Would either of you lovely ladies be able to spare a few blue petunia seeds? I'm not generally a petunia person but that blue color went straight to my blue-loving center. PLMK; I'm happy to send a SASBE or whatever is necessary!
