...That my Morty is crazy!! I mean, I think he literally bounces off the walls.
A few weeks ago, during one of his romps through the house, he jumped up on the video cabinet, and knocked a candle off. It was one of those jar candles from Bath And Body Works, so when it hit the bottom corner of the cabinet, it shattered. I picked up all the large pieces, and put them in the trash can, then on my way back through to get the vaccume cleaner, you'll never believe what I saw. Morty was standing there, in the middle of the mess he'd just made, and he was EATING the glass. What in the world?? I was just dumbfounded. I scooped him up, and managed to get him to spit the pieces he had in his mouth out, then I took him to the other room. He wiggled free, and ran straight back to the broken jar, and started sniffing around. This time, I closed him up in the bathroom while I vaccuumed up the mess. I was careful to make sure it was ALL cleaned up, before letting him back out, then I called the vet. I really didn't think he had time to swallow any, but I didn't know what to do. I always ask my vet when I don't know what to do, and he's never steered me wrong. He told me that if he'd only swallowed small shards, they'd most likely pass through him, but to keep a close eye on him just in case. If he had trouble going to the bathroom, get him in right away.
I'm happy to say that it has been several weeks since the incident, and he's fine. Nothing ever came of his encounter with the jar candle. I was going to write about it when it happened, but I wanted to wait until I knew he'd be ok, so I wouldn't have to depress anyone if the story had an unhappy ending....but, like always, I freaked out over nothing.
Here's a picture of the rotten little thing. I can't help but love him, even if he scares me to death. lol
Now, I'm Convenced...
