How do you over winter a Bouganvilla in zone 7?

I have a beautiful large Bouganvilla in a pot outside. How do I over winter it? Put it in the basement and let it go dormant?

(Same for a fig tree in a pot....)

Bringing it in is your safest bet, as any frost is going to kill back the branches to the soil line at least. It will look rough over the winter, inside, but should flush nicely with a little pruning, in the spring.
