Hi
Yesterday Christina and I drive to a town Hässleholm far away from Trelleborg. A flowershop there having a Hoya exhibition. Many species of Hoya and also many Orchids. Both cuttings and big plants.
The first photo is Christina looking for a new hoya.
Rosita
Lots of Hoyas
Was it just an exhibition or were the cuttings and plants for sale? I can't imagine going to one place and having that many different hoyas to choose from. I guess it's a good thing that you both already have most of them. lol They all look so wonderful and healthy. Thanks for sharing your great pictures.
Sandy
Yes all was for sale. In another room was moore. 4 new species from Papa New Guinea move in to my house.
One of them can you see here.

Rosita - thanks for the pictures - how cool to be able to go someplace that carries that many hoyas!!! Hmmm, think I'll pack my bags!! LOL Karen
It is a little bit cristmas eve, every time we go some place like that. You are welcome to came over.
Rosita
Wow, Rosita......wish they had a store like that here....the buggies wouldnt be big enough to fit all the hoyas in i would want to buy!....great pics.....
Sandy
Drooling over here! Any idea what 39.99 ( a price sheet on one of the shelves) equals in US dollars? Thanks for the great photos!
It helps to feed my newest addiction.
Lali
39.90 is for Hoya plants in Swedish money it is about 3.50 US dollar. It was rather big plants not cuttings.
Wow! You gals are soooo lucky!! I would probably still be there right now. You would need the police to drag me away!! I really wish we had something like that in the states. Are hoyas really popular in Sweden? Seems like they have hoya exibitions frequently. Well compared to the states. Actually, has there ever been a hoya exibition like that in the states. If there ever is one, I will be there!!!
Heather
Holy Smokes! You both are so lucky! Karen can you pick me up along the way? Weren't we going to take the boat over soon?
:) Donna
Oh My..........I can't even imagine. I would have to have my own cargo plane to haul all my beauties back home. Do they have this particular exhibition every year? And $3.50 for a large plant :0 How much fun you all must have had. Well I am just green with envy.
Take the boat over and Christina and I drive you to a holy place with a lots of Hoyas. And then you needs very big trunk to take your Hoyas home. LOL. I know this guy for many years ago he and his wife are 2 times a year collecting Hoyas , Orchids and Bromelias. The photos is from his sted, when our society visit him. We goes by bus once a year. 10 December hi comes to us and show as photos from his latest trip to Papa New Guinea.
I guess he doesn't do any shipping.
Sigh....
Here are some photos from one of our trips to this nice guy with hoyas and orchids: http://www.myhoyas.com/hoyatables%20in%20Varberg.htm
And here are some photos of his orchids that I took when we were there the first time: http://www.myhoyas.com/orchids%20from%20Varberg.htm
That would be some of the stuff you would get to see if coming here! (Am I advertising for Sweden or what?!)
Christina
Hoya wonderland, how nice:-). Rosita what is the hoya in picture #5 in the lower right hand corner? It has reddish leaves. I have that one, but I don't have a name for it.
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda
It is similar to H. Hasselti (fleaked leaf or sigillatis) but it is sp Sulawesi IPPS 7240. They told me that one is sigillatis but now it is hasselti instead. Do you understand me?
Thank you Rosita, I understand you perfectly:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
It looks like they are growing it in Spagnum Moss...is that true?
Yes it is true, but only cuttings. Full growing plants in soil.
Oh my !! Seem's like we need to plan a group Hoya shopping trip to Sweeden next year when they have their hoya sale.
Donna - how long do you think it would take us to row?! Of course, we'd have to bring two boats - one for us and one for the hoyas!! LOL
Your new yellow one from New Guinea looks lovely Rosita. I can see that it would be very easy to have 200 different kinds of hoyas in Sweden. It's amazing that they have become so popular and available in Sweden in only 10 years.
Donna, that website that Awanda gave the link to yesterday, Bob Smoley’s Gardenworld, ships to Canada and they have an amazing selection.
Sandy
Karen, I think we'll need one of those huge freight ships. They will have lots of room for the cuttings and plants.
Sandy they do charge $25 for a phytosanitary certificate. We should think of going together and order some plants next year now that it is getting colder. What do you think?
:) Donna
Oh My!!! I'm on Hoya overload!!! Rosita.. Christina.. would either one of you adopt me? I do windows!
Wonderful pictures
Barb
I'd go in on it too Donna. :) The import permit would have to be filled out, sent into the Government for approval, and then mailed to the company with the order. When the order crosses the border the permit and the phyto have to accompany it.
Is that how it works? Have you done this before, Pam?
:) Donna
It's definitely something to think about Donna, and we have lots of time for that since, like you say, it's getting too cold to order this time of year. A group order would certainly save us all money and I'm sure there are a number others from Canada that might be interested as well. It would take lots of organization.
Sandy
Oh, that low price was only H. carnosa and H. australis. About 8 month old plants 10 US dollar. like H. elliptica, nummolarioides, multiflora, lacunosa, tsangii and more. For the small cuttings photo 2 is 8-10 dollar.
For hanging plant 7-15 US dollar. If you want cuttings like H. patella 15dollar , Imperialis alba 20-50 dollar, H. buottii 20 dollar and more rare cuttings have a higher price. So most Hoya cuttings are expensive here in Sweden.
I'm just now catching up with you guys - - I WANNA GO ON THE BOAT TRIP TOOOO! I can't imagine a hoya store like that anywhere around heeere - - MY SIS WOULD BUY THEM ALL!
Rosita - thanks for sharing your pictures! Really awesome!
No Donna I haven't but I did talk to customs and the Dept. of Agriculture when I was thinking of bringing some water lilies in. My father has, in the past tho, and he told me who to contact. Some places charge $25.00 U.S. for the phyto and others charge around $80 US (depending on how far away the inspector is &/or overcharging whim).
