Dogs and Mums...

Anyone else have dogs that are VERY attracted to their mums. I have some nice mums (ordered them from King's Mums, they don't touch the cheap ones from Home Depot) that were just about to bloom when all of a sudden, all the buds and leaves were gone. These are relatively small plants and it was only one section of the bed, so I thought I had some mystery bug, but NO, it is the two darling dogs.

They have never messed with any plants, so i don't know what the deal is, but it is like cat nip for cats, they just can't seem to get enough.

I would like to see these bloom at least once since I just put them in. Any ideas why they are attracted or how to stop it? They are large dogs, so putting a fence around it is not practical.
