Well I'm back from my trip to Plant Stand. Tami they were out of bellas but will have another order coming in on Monday, so I guess I will have another road trip. I did take pictures; I could just sit there all day among the plants:-). One of the ladies that works there has a section where she keeps her hoyas. This is a variegated krimson queen bloom. (I think)
Blessings,
Awanda

Be still my heart..... THUMP THUMP.... :0 DRIP DRIP DROOL DROOL.. I could spend the whole darn day in there. Def. a road trip ahead. Lilypon, I believe if I have the right picture it is H. obavata. I can't believe the size of the Hindu rope :0 I likey.... Like your palms. Now how much of a price tag did they have on the Hindu rope? Oh thanks so much for taking photo's, it's everything I thought it would be and more.
Thanks and sorry Tami I just realized this thread was directed to you. I shouldn't look at work.....I tend to scan quickly rather than read. I've got to hunt that one down!
Lilypon it wasn't just directed at Tami:-). I just wanted to make sure she saw it:-)
Blessings,
Awanda
Thanks Awanda :) .....I usually ;) try to stay out of a thread until the person it's directed to replies.
Tami I didn't even ask about the price of the hindu rope, it hadn't been so big and long, I wouldn've brought it. I just don't have room for it in my greenhouse. I think the hoya in the first picture is a variegated krimson queen, not ovobata.
Blessings,
Awanda
Wow! That looks like a wonderful place Awanda. It's great that you took pictures so we can all see what it's like. How far away is it from where you live?
Sandy
Sandy it is a nice place to visit. It's about 15 miles from where I live. I didn't post all of the pictures I took:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
O.K. Awanda how/where did you get your self control? H. obovata is one of my favorites, I have 4 of them, but I swear if I was there with you today I would of had both of those beauties in my shopping cart. I probabley would of gotten a hindu rope as well, and I really don't care for them that much. To slow growing for me, but heck if it comes that size, well now thats a whole different story!!! O.K. tell me all about it, is that all the hoya's they had, or are ya holding back on me? I feel like calling them up and having them deliver the obavata's to me at HD. Hmmm I wonder if they would do that? Do they carry any other species besides what they had and the bella comming. Oh and darn, you have to go there again... I feel for ya dear. Please post more pictures :)
Tami
Awanda,
What time do they get there shipment of H. bella in on Monday?
That's great...it's not too far to have to go back to.
Tami they open at 7am, but I'm going to call before making the drive. What you see was all they had Tami, (I'm not holding out on you:-) I have all of the hoyas they had, except Bella which is why I want to go back. Tami the plant manager at my HD does all of the plant ordering, so you might want to speak to the plant manager at your HD store. The Plant Stand also supplies plants to hotels and businesses.
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda, seems like we have asked them befor, but I can't remember what they said about it. I'll have to go in there and have another chat with them.. Hope ya score on the bella's.
Someone awhile back suggested a road trip to Awanda's - if this doesn't push us all to get in the car, I don't know what does! Not only could we invade Awanda's stash of hoyas, we could head on over to the Plant Stand, too! Karen
Oh sorry Lilypon about the hoya name, I thought you meant the big leaved one hanging in the third photo. Yes the first one is a var. krimson princess.
Well Awanda I told my sister about these beauties, I think she is going down there Monday. If ya see a really tall girl with black hair and her neck up like ET, thats her.
Karen, great idea. Then we can fly out of Phoenix and get on over to Sweden...
Hmmm, my car does hold 8......and Sweden, yes, that HAS to be added to the itinerary....look out Awanda, Christina and Rosita!! LOL
Tami I'll be on the look-out for her:-). Maybe I'd better be there when they open up to make sure I get my share of bellas:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
LOL Awanda, you had better, when they came in at HD I think she bought 5 of them. I think she is after the var. hindu rope. She will have that Hoya gaze in her eyes. I swear she tried to buy the mother H. glabra from Kartuz.. LOL she cracks me up. You might wanna keep watch in your rear view mirror on the way home, she can sniff out more hoya's than anyone I know, well except you, you have been getting quit a few lately!!!
Karen, how will we get them all home? Once we hit Sweden we are done for, I will have to have one of each..
Tami - And if you're going to get one of each, of course I will have to have one of each, also! Perhaps someone on this forum has a private jet??? Donna suggested a freight boat....that would work, too!!
Tami keep your TV on the news on Monday, I can see the head lines now "Women arrested in fight over hoya", news at 11:00:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
LOL. I'm getting a visual on this... Hindu rope intangled in the hair, dirt flung in your mouths, one of ya pulling the pot and the other pulling on the hanger. Oh my, the claws are out!!! I better make sure she stays home.. Do let me know though if they get some Bella's in.
Tami
Ok Tami I just called, and was told the truck just got in and was un-loading. I'll call back in a couple of hours:-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Tami the Bellas are in and I'm on my way!!
Blessings,
Awanda
Hummm Hummm Hummmm, 2 hours is up now..
BEAUTIES!!!! Nice and healthy looking. Is that Ivy in the last picture behind Miss Bella? Did you ask them if they ever got any other kind of hoya in? Nice score mulady. Well good glad you got some. My sister didn't go, I knew when she showed up for Bible study this morning her road trip was off. I will have to send her these pictures to show her what she missed out on. Gotta rub it in ya no...
Tami
Beautiful plants, Awanda! I am always so happy to see that you make such good use of your exercise equiptment too. It make such a perfect Hoya hanger!!
Nice work Awanda. I love those obovata's, gotta get me one. As I've already mentioned, bella is what hooked me on hoyas!
Heather
Oh Mel, how tacky:-), but true and funny. Tami I took the ladies some homemade Friendship Bread and gave them some suggestions for hoyas:-). That is an ivy hanging behind the bella. While they may not be able to find truck loads of hoyas, they may be able to find some of the ones suggested.
Blessings,
Awanda
We should all just keep asking our suppliers about Hoya's, maybe they will just get the hint. Boycot all pothos, wandering jews, and spider plants. Oh I see now, your supposed to bribe with friendship bread!! ;) you forgot to tell me that part. Now your spilling some of your secrets...
Awanda, your flowers and your new hoya plants are just beatiful. I thought I'd point out though that the plant you identified as a Krimson Queen (Tricolor) is actually a Krimson Princess (Rubra). The Queen has green leaves edged in cream. I have both, and so far, they're still my faves because of the variegated leaves. I don't know what I'll do once my others start blooming though.....lol.
Thanks Christine, I always get the princess and queen confused. I hope I won't get be-headed:-)
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda - your new hoyas are AWESOME! So lush and green! My gosh....just gorgeous...! I use to get the princess and the queen confused too, and then I came up with this:
"The QUEEN wears her royalty (white) on the OUTSIDE for everyone to see; the PRINCESS must wear her's in the INSIDE"
=O)
