Its raining, its snowing...........

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Started last evening and into the night, very wet heavy snow. This morning all nice and crusty(LOL) Funny to watch the dogs go out and carefully place each foot when they realized they were breaking thru! But the sun is out and at least the roads and sidewalks will probably be clear by afternoon as the ground is still not very cold. First real snowfall in the city this year - unusual and came 1 night after Hallowwen! Lucky for the kids! Most of my remaining plants are on the ground including my lovely Autum Joy sedum and fall asters which were looking great.

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your sedum and asters. I hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come for your area weather-wise. --Ginny

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I knew I should've have posted "Please, please keep it there!!!" ;)

Looks like we'll be getting some tonight too, but can't even blame it on Alberta. ****....kissing my gardens goodnight, so long, see you in the spring.

(Zone 7b)

and to think I've been whining about rain...

You must be one of those thin blooded persons 2zeus. Notice you're changed your name.

(Zone 7b)

the other name was too long, and yeah, I'm a skinny little runt, so am cold all winter long..

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

2zeus Sounds like my late Mum - never weighed more than about 90 lbs and was always cold. When Mum took off her warm flannel bloomers we knew it was finally warm! Usually about June!

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

put my long johns on for the first time this morning for chores. still no snow but coooolld

North Saanich, Canada

We had quite the storm here yesterday morning. Never seen wind like that since we moved here in 1990. Power was out all over, ours was out for about 8 hours. Our internet and tv was out for 28 hours!!!!! I was having serious computer withdrawal!!! LOL
And now the sun is shining!!!! YAY!!!! Hope the snow has gone away and some better weather comes your way!!

Glenda, sounds like Ucluelet, where we lived for 7 years; lots of power outages, I remember trying to read by candle! Gave me an appreciation for all the things I'd taken for granted up until then - light to read by! coffee! tv! music! warmth(we got a woodstove)

Sure does make you appreciate having electicity. Went through some thoughtful retrospection at the beginning of October when we had that little blizzard. Was thankful it wasn't real cold out. We were out about six or seven hours. Yep thank goodness we have a wood stove too. Nice and toasty, but nothing much to do.

(Zone 7b)

My DH was raised with a wood stove, I'd never been in the same room with one -
I wanted the biggest one we could find, he said no way, we'll cook!
We got the smallest one, and had to open the top half of the dutch door in mid winter to cool the place off a bit!
But I loved that toasty heat. So did our cat, used to lie belly up as close to it as he could get, would glare at you if you tried to gently move him so you could open the door.
