As you all saw a few months ago, my new cat took a liking to my H.imperialis and tore half the flower buds off to nibble on. VB dosn't bother any of my other plants, even other Hoyas on bamboo hoops. She kept after it so bad I had to put it up on a shelf. When I brought it down today and put it back in the window, hoping she had forgotten abpout it, she immeadiately attacked it, climbing in the pot, chewing leaves, basically just freaking out. I yelled, pleaded, moved her away. Every time I sat her down she flew back to that plant, climbing around a big H.australis in the process, and climbed up on the pot and attacked that peduncle (no buds). Does anyone else have an insane cat so fixated on one plant? It is sort of infuriating, but you have to admire her determination.

Go to the pharmacy and get some Essence of Orange. It deters cats immediately. I had a cat so jealous he would chew the phone lines because I spent too much time on them...he thought. I wiped the wires with this E of O and that was it!!! They hate it. You could wipe it on the buds, plant, pot.... worked for me.

Most cats also don't like aluminum foil.

I find it interesting that the cat only goes after that one plant. I wonder if H.imperialis has a scent that attracts cats like catnip does.
That would be my take on it also.. it has a scent that must attract the cat. I'd be interested to know if the Essence of Orange works on it as well as it did for Carol. Good luck!

Great idea about the Essence of Orange. I'll have to try it on the Xmas tree this year...lol.
