Could this be the year for Orange

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

We ( Maggi and I ) are only growing about six seedlings this year and didn't have high hopes for any but this one. It's a Tropical Sunset X Dr. Seuss by JT Sessions. Maggi and I are both nuts about orange Brugs. The picture does not really show her true color. We have watched it for days, thinking it would never show any color but she has come through for us. I think she has potential, even if only for her pollen. Now I would like to know what others think about her?

Dr. Seuss is on the left and seedling on the right.

Oh Yes!!! I love the frilly edge to the outside of the bloom. Is that called the skirt? I don't know what you have to go through to prove the seedling, but whatever it is.. hang in there! When it comes available, I want to be way on up there near the head of the line to buy one! The color is fabulous!

I LOVE your seedling, her skirt is flirty, girlie!! Dr. S hated it here, I did everything to encourage her. And, there you are in the same zone, doing great with Dr. S. Continued good luck, your seedling color is super!!!

I ditto what Sherry said.

I wish I could answer all the questions definitely, but this year was such a poor season I hate to say it's anything for sure - BUT I do know that it IS heat tolerant! And fairly drought tolerant (but we had that $358 water bill in August). It has not been eaten up by anything - yet - and it has bloomed (late, like everything else around here) with a nice little flush. It bloomed short - about 3 and 1/2 feet tall.

We're keeping it through next season, at least. Maybe we'll have a 'normal' year next year :~)

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Maggi, thanks for the info, it's sure a beauty!

OK, for those inquiring minds, here are two pictures of the 'girly' orange seedling. The first was taken on the 23rd of October and the next was taken on the 3rd of November. She has held up pretty well considering there have been several days around the 90 degree mark. She does have a very nice scent but not as strong as the Dr. Winds today were in the 15 to 20 mph range. October 31 we had one inch of rain and she came out looking refreshed. We have a few people lined out to grow her for evaluation, so we will know more as time goes on.

Thanks for the warm replies.
