before i get too excited for possible crosses...

Corte Madera, CA

planted 2 feet apart are:

enchanted double white, candida double white, and herrenhauser garten. will most likely bloom at the same time. all are budding.
delicate yellow suaveolens also in the picture.

i'm leaving it all to the insects. should i hope for some natural wonders?

thanks for your time.

A lot of hybridizers have stopped using HG because of the difficult ,if possible at all ,blooming.

I hope your HG buds hang on long enough to bloom ;-)

Do you know that a double to double cross produces mutated blooms ?

You are best off using a double for the mother plant.

thanks, shirley. wow, HG has that reputation? no, i did not know that - - - i do not know much about brugs still. lol. just love double flowers =). the 3 doubles mentioned were all "resurrected" from the dead. they were really sad before i moved them OUTSIDE the fence AWAY from all other plants i try to grow (in case it was something viral...). anyhow, just really thrilled that they are actually about to bloom.

buzz...buzz...buzz...

Gosh if you get HG to bloom I will be so jealous Annapet. That would be too cool.

I just sent a bunch of pollen to a newbie on here the other day. I hope they got it. I will try to get some together for you tomorrow if I have time.

I found that all the double white crosses made doubles but they were all white or light apricot after a few days. However, the next generation may be colored if I had the inclination of crossing them with another pink who had 2 pink parents.

I wish I had a good orange to send to you for HG. I can send you some that has a double orange as parents but the brug itself is either white or a pink. The white increases your chance of more whites but you could get lucky!

kell, thank you for your generosity. i better read up on this first. i was just hoping for the bees and all, but now this is getting really exciting.

goodness, i had no idea HG has such a reputation. so far it's growing the same rate as my CDW and EDW. but NOW that i know, i'm sure the wait will seem longer, and the buds will probably drop tomorrow.

Nooooooo, think positively!! I bet you get big ones. Some people have done real well with it. I sure wanted to. I grew several into big trees and I think I had them 3 if not 4 years. Last year I did get buds finally but they dropped. When my DH was in a particularly bad snit over my brugs I tossed him them to kill off. It calmed him down for awhile. LOL Nothing like some brug blood to pacify him.
