This is Sue's Rosamond x (Ursuline x Cuba2) It starts off very light pink and darkens each day. These are about 5-6 days old.
Where is poppysue
I bet that gets even darker in the summer, Linda. Sue sure made some great ones. Funny you should ask about her, I just emailed her last night. I told her we sure missed her around here.
She is taking a big break from gardening. She thinks she is cured of her obsession, do you think that is possible? I told my husband there may be hope for me.
I'm not cured, but am noticing interest in other directions. As I go through my selection for overwintering, I keep telling myself 'got to get rid of some of these - but not THAT one). I have about 20 seedlings coming along already and they will need room next summer. I have WAY too many and sometimes it's more of a burden than a joy.
Sue's above is one that I'll keep. I plan to take a tall cutting so I'll have a nice tree next spring. Your LA EP #7 and Mixed #14 are also keepers. So many are starting to bloom now and I keep hoping that the frost will stay away. Dr Seuss is huge and loaded with buds. If I can hold out another week or 2 it will be glorious. He is my oldest and largest tree. Will have to be cut way back to get it into the garage. Isabella is another large tree and good performer, I'll keep her too.
Would love to hear from Sue.
This week end the weather was perfect (about what you have all the time) and I really enjoyed being out there. When it gets too hot or too cold, it's not as much fun.
Linda it's beautiful! You are a great brug mommy.
I treasure every hybrid that comes from Poppysue. I keep even the not so great ones. Poppysue did not create very many and it is highly likely that she will never create any more.
Me too, Linda. This summer lots of different plants have been winking at me and giving me that come hither look. Brugs are great but perhaps it is time to downsize by lots and not have a brug factory here. I would have room for other loves to develop. But I could never give up plants totally, I do not think. Sorry Tom! LOL
Yesterday, I was working in the front yard and a neighbor was on her 'walk' so she stopped to chat and was asking about the brugs. Isabella is planted right on the edge of the road and it has bloomed good this summer. Anyway, she was going on about them and I asked if she would like to walk to the back yard. As we got back she kept saying "Oh my word, I've never seen anything like this, you have so many. Oh my word (and on and on) It does look like a brug factory. Next year I want more variety, Plumerias, Alocasias (I have a few), Colocasias (have a few) etc.
LOL. Those are the ones that have my eye, too. In fact I am moving my Plumeria inside this week. Clare is a wealth of info on them. Susie and the tropical forum have me going on Aroids in general. Susie has tons of ears.
I see all these tropical lovers like Ada who live where it is so cold but they have lush tropical gardens and I who could have one much more easily do not! I may just have one in a year or 2. LOL
