Finally I have a bloom!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

This is nothing for yu'all that grow brugs like weeds, but this year it has been a challenge to get one darn brug bud to survive the wicked winds we had this year and the temps. I've been babying this brug and finally when I brought it into the house it opened up and bloomed! I had it in the plastic canvas greenhouse for about 2 to 3 weeks with one bud, but not opening up. I guess it needed the warmth.

Meet Becca Lynn.

That is just great. It must be so hard to get them going fast enough in zone 4a. I think you deserve so much credit doing your best to grow them where nature never would!!

I sure hope you get lots more blooms in the future, Donna!

Congratulations! Becca Lynn is a "tried & true" Brug!

Thanks, Kell and Shirley. I would have had lots of blooms if the wicked winds hadn't brought off the branches 3 times.

I am happy for you, I still am waiting for my first bloom. I only had two little buds but it just was too late in the season and they fell of. I have high hopes for this next year and I hope you get more too..
Congrats..

Of course, Linda! The others I have some started from seeds and a few given to me are the ones that never withstood the wicked winds. I luv the double ones. I received some red sang cuttings this week so can't wait to see those bloom next year. Also started some special sang seeds this year but they didn't make any buds. Do the sangs need to Y also?

Thanks, Vickie! Next year will definitely be a better year for both of us...right!

As I have learned is they do have to Y. So many great people here are so helpful in answering so many of my questions. Also getting bitten by the Brug Bug has really hit me and seeing all the beautiful pictures of everyones else's Brugs makes me keep going and await next year and I can show off the ones I have started either by seed or cuttings.
Awaiting SPRING now..
