Trip to Heaven Part II

Silver Spring, MD

I spent Thursday afternoon repotting and trimming spent blooms and leaves from the treasures of Wednesday's Trip. Here they are--washed and ready to go.

Last one.

Top: Allegro Appalachian Trail. The only bloom was spent. It is fantasy.
Left: Milky Way Trail. Right: My favorite of the trip. Deer Path Trail. I have never seen blooms like these. They are almost like tiny orchids.

Hope you enjoyed seeing them. Jill and I will long remember our adventure.

I returned to the thread I enlarged each picture. The colors are true. Snuggles Little Dreamer reminds me of an English Tea Set. A wonder reminder!

I'm glad to see what the blooms will look like on Cambridge Missy! I didn't know you'd purchased that one -- my pot had 2 in it, plus they tucked in an extra pot of it, so we've got plenty of that one to share around!

I'm looking forward to doing some swapping with you... I'll save you the extra plantlets from Baby Jay & Rob's Ragamuffin (I seem to remember those almost making your final cut). I think my very favorites from your picks (which are all gorgeous!) are 'Deer Path Trail' and 'Irish Iridescence'.

Actually, Nanna brought the plant of 'Irish Iridescence' over to show me after she had said that she was done with her shopping... so I started tucking it into my box, and she said, oh no, I was going to get that one... whoops! I was pretty shamefaced. I could've picked up one of my own, but with so many "final picks" already in my pile I figured I'd just be patient and swap with her later... :-)

Thanks for posting the great photos of your finds! I have to say that the violets "show off" much better against your lace than they do in my photos on that tray.

I'm looking forward to seeing your arrangement of minis on that tiered dessert plate, as you mentioned possibly doing. You've got such creative ideas! Speaking of which, you must post a pic of a violet perched on top of that green glass inkwell you bought to use as a wick watering reservoir -- genius!

I tried the tiered dessert plate and it didn't work. My next project is to turn a corner cabinet into a lighted plant stand. I bought the lights, yesterday. Now, I have to figure out the best way to mount them.

Will take picture when it is finished.

I don't think I will be "leafing" right away. I have about 15 plantlets to repot and two trays of leaves that are just starting to ear. Jill, as soon as I can Deer Path Trail and Irish Iredescense are yours.

Oh, what a lovely idea with the corner cabinet -- lace on the shelves, I bet -- that's going to be a focal point and then some! The shop lights that I found have slots on the top for mounting with screws.

I didn't mean to sound impatient about swapping with you... I can wait! :-)

PS, I wanted to let you know that I've put Aren's name on one of my little ponytail palms. I figure if he can't grow a ponytail on his head, he may as well have one next to his bed. Those plants are tough as nails and can get by on very irregular watering since they store water in their bulbous "trunk." I've decided to give my other extras to my neice and to my young neighbors who garden with me, as I think they will be good survivors.

Hooray! Should we assume that our paths will intersect again soon so I can give you the ponytail palm (and the other 2 AV plantlets), or should I send it out next week? If the latter, please Dmail me with your address as you don't seem to be in the addy exchange.

Nanna,
Love the pics & all of your selections! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Southern Springtime is a beauty and you will love the rest too. I have several of your selections & Appalachian Trail is a very good grower for me,as well as Milky Way Trail. Watermellon Bay is pretty too.I like the different leaf on it as well.

I'll be glad to be next on your swap list when you're ready...lol
