Leaving my plants is causing me distress

Long Beach, CA

Good grief, I spent the whole day running around trying to get everything watered so I can go on my cruise (birthday present from son).
Anyway, this addiction (or affliction) is really evident when I get myself into this much of a tizzy just worrying that everything will be OK until I get back when I am only going to be gone for 4 measly DAYS. Ha Ha.
I keep going back & over them all to see if they need moved or watered. (which brings me to another question for you old timers in this....when you are leaving...& something is not quite ready for the next watering (still not dry enough)...what do you do about that???) I have decided to just leave them & hope they will not dry out completely rather than take a chance of the dreaded "overwatering". I think they will be OK until Monday, so ....anyway...I plan on just enjoying the high seas.
See ya all when I get back!

Have Fun!!
I am not sure if this is good advice, but perhaps for the ones that are not quite dry enough to water you could put some water in a spray bottle and spray a little on the top of the soil just so it's a little moist.

This is not from experience....but I read once, centuries ago, that if you stick a funnel in the soil about an inch down, fill it with water, it will keep the soil below it wet. Maybe if you t ie a bright pink ribbon on it someone in charge will water it. If not...3 days is not likely to make a big difference...especially if you give it a sip more before yu go.

Hey Marcy, Happy Birthday and Happy Cruising... I am jealous... It's hard to leave your babies.. You can do what my sister did, she came to arizona one winter and brought all of them, about 50 hoya's to my house..

Hey Karen, that's my line:-)!! Marcy I'm sure they will be fine. Are you taking the 4 day, San Diego, Catalina Island, Ensanada, Mexico cruise? If so you'll enjoy it, we took it and has an awesome time. Make sure you take some pants with elastic so you'll have something to wear home. They feed you 24/7. Have a wonderful cruise and Happy B-day to you.

Blessings,
Awanda

Yes, Marcy...enjoy the heck out of your trip. 4 days is not going to mean anything to your hoyas especially if you water them before leaving...minor drought for them!!! Have a wonderful birthday!!!! 36 was my favorite birthday....enjoy yours!!!!

Marcy ....
First off - HAPPY BIRTHDAY and HAPPY CRUISING! I'm glad you get to go: my DH was taking me to Cancun, we were to leave 11/11 but it's been cancelled due to Wilma. So enjoy your cruise enough for me, too, ok?! =)
Secondly - dang, my sis beat me to the punch - I was going to offer to "babysit" your hoyas for you (actually, we all know who originated that line, right Awanda?!). =0)
Thirdly - if you were going to be gone more than 4 days, I was going to suggest something I heard once ~ fill your bathtub with 1/2 " or so of water and sit your plants in the tub. Suppose to keep them watered and humidified for like a week. I have yet to try it.
ENJOY YOURSELF! We'll be here when you get back!

Your babies will be fine. Have a fun and safe trip and have a drink for all of us. This way you will forget about your babies. Happy Birthday!
:) Donna
