Last hurrah.

Most of my brugs are putting out one last set of blooms before winter comes along.

they are both lovely, but the second one is my favorite.

Very beautiful! I have a couple questions. I'm just starting out learning about these plants. I'm trying to make a list of scented brugs. Do they have a scent? Do they have names?

Thanks,
Lisa

They are beautiful. I like the frilly white one too.

Are there any that do not smell? I have yet to encounter such a thing but am not an expert by any means. Lisa, my most odiferous is Species. On a warm evening, it smells like the avon lady dropped her case and broke all of her samples. She gets banished from the patio because we could not stay out there with her.

Thanks frogsrus. I'll put that on my list...I have the perfect spot for it. There were some brugs at the local nursery. I was surprised because here at DG was my first introduction to the plant. Anyway...they had no scent. I smelled and sniffed...nada...nothin. So I try to ask just in case :-)

Lisa, Dr. Suess is very common to find, easy to grow and has a heavenly scent. The scent is the strongest in the evening for brugs. That is when the moths come out that pollinate them. They all smell nicely though. I have a nice pink one that smells stronger then the others. It think it is Rosamond.

In their native So America, there is a special moth that only comes at night that fertilizes the Brugs. Thus they only put out their scent at night - some of them will still be fragrant in the morning, and carry a slight sweetness during the day, but you should catch a whiff of myriad blooming Brugs at night. (MAybe by next year you will).

(Rycliff & I were writing at the same time) Vers orange is stronger, too

Thanks everyone for the great info! Well that explains why I couldn't smell anything. I just wanted a hint of what it would smell like. Everyone here at DG just raves about the brugs perfume...makes me very curious. I haven't had a chance to see the hummingbird moth in real life only in pics. I'm guessing that's the moth you are referring to but if not, still would be fun to see it anyway. So this will be a great new adventure for me :-)
