My FIRST seeds

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

The pod felt soft, and the stem was yellow so I took it off, and opened it up, and there they were, my very first seeds from Pollinating it myself. kells Unknown Pink X Millk & Honey

LOL. That is too cool. I can tell your sunroom will be full of seedlings soon. I t is fun over winter to have such cute babies to tend to, Doris. You will love it.

Thanks. I am kinda excited since it's an "Idid it myself pollination", I have 8 other pods that are doing good. I will need to give a couple of these seeds away for someone else to see how they do.

That's great! I have a pod of a couple of crosses I did this summer just to see if it would take. I wasn't sure what I was waiting for to tell me when to pick it until I read your post. Soft pod with a yellow stem. Cool! This cross is Wiskers X Isabella & Firstday X Rosabelle
The Mom Is a nice white that lasts & lasts has nice recurve, the pa is a dark peach that is pretty & smells nice. It will be interesting to see what babies come of this! Wanna swap some seeds? (I guess I should wait until I actually see seeds, huh?)
Keep up the good work, we have a long way to go to chatch up with Monika, Kell & the Brug Gurus! LOL!

yep a very looooong way.
Sure I would love to swap some, my other pods (if they do good) are Isobella X Big Yella , Dr. Suess X Jean Pasko , M & H X Isobella I also have another pod on unknown Pink X M & H if these all get ripe I will be seed crazy LOL

Woo Hoo! I guess you will! I have attempted to cross 2 whites that I have, one has the prettiest flowers but browns easily, the other has nice flowers that stay white/white & last a long time. I thought it would be nice to get the best of both. With my luck tho, I'll probably get ugly flowers that immediately turn brown! LOL! So far no pods tho.
I have 50+ seedlings growing out now for 2 years, 1/2 of them have been white, it is their first year to bloom tho. (Is it true they could be a color their 2nd year?) I have gotten a few peach ones & it looks like I may have a yellow one looking at the new blooms, they are not turning white, yet. I can hope can't I? Oh! how I long for some really striking color. I'm seeking out "Rhapsody" I just fell in love with that beaut! Keep on the lookout for her! I'll keep ya up-dated about the pod! Bj

Congrats Doris!!
Well done & sharing your excitement!!!!

I too share your excitement! Congrats Doris!!!

Bj, if you want colored brugs babies, try to cross 2 colored brugs that both have colored parents. White is the dominant color in brugs so you have to stack the deck in your favor. I am going on my 3rd generation now, so hopefully I will get mostly pink blooms.

If you want a dark one, increase your chances by crossing 2 dark ones with colored parents. Even if you do not have a certain brug, you may be able to get someone to share pollen. It is much easier to mail than cuttings.

Congrats, Doris. This is only the first of many you'll have and collect from Brugs.

Thank-x Kell. I have to get some breeding stock first. Where do I go to find all the parentage? Like how do I find out who's mom & dad "Firstday" is? It's all so confusing. I'm not to sure if I want to do the crossing. You can tell I'm really new at this!
I'm thinking more on the line of just growing others seeds out rather than doing my own. I'll leave the "chemistry" to you & the other Brug Gurus . I do love starting the seed & all the graguations in between seedling & bloom.
A friend told me my GH looks like a fairy tale, like Jack in the Beanstalk, or something, all of the plants are so huge. I guess it does come to think of it! I love to just go & sit in there & smell the blooms. I call it watching the plants grow. My DH thinks I'm nuts.
I guess we all have to be a little bit nuts to do what we are doing! LOL! Bj
