An artichoke!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ü Congratulations.......don't know how you did it (it's one I've never grown). edited to say: How DID you do it???

The cream coloured water lily would prolly be the miniature Helvola http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/plantfinder/Plant.asp?code=Z230 Colour would develop more in higher heat.

How full are your entrance/sun room/windows now Lynn??? ;)

Thought I was crazy, bringing in so many things. (Mainly LA iris). You really do go overboard Lynn. I only have bloom on my echevarias and crocrosmias. Your tables look lovely. My tables are doors on grooming tables.

When did you start your artichoke seed? Mine are still looking very pretty but no fruiting . Obviously started them far too late. Think I might bring in a couple and keep them going over the winter. My other duds this year were the leeks. planted them far too late as well. Think I'll let them overwinter to see what happens.

Artichoke plants were started at the greenhouse last march. They were just chucking them out toward the end of june because they hadn't all sold. so mine were rescues from the dumpster, I never really expected any fruit but i got 3 off the two plants.

heres a trick with leeks ginny that i tried myself for the first time this year. found this in the veggie forum where they were talking about growing plants from propagation rather than seed in third world countries

when you buy leeks in the store in the spring cut about 1/2 inch with the little rooty things off and stick them in the ground voila you grow a new leek in half the time it takes from seed and generally better quality.

You've really got them packed in there Lynne. Must be fun when you have to water them all. I see a light to the left side. Would be interested to know what you got there.

I have two sunblasters (125 watts each) they provide an amazing amount of light for that amount of wattage. Will add a third sometime in early december. they come on at 4 in the morning and go off at 1:30 pm

watering is easy the floor is ceramic and i have a number of rubber liners on it put a hose bib in when we did the addition so i just spray and water like it was a greenhouse

the tuberose bloomed last nite - worth the wait - fragrance AMAZING - like a brug tucked into a little package but richer - pic later - have to go to work AGAIN - the young chefs are sick - why don't we oldies get sick??? (not that i want too)
