A couple of late season blooms

Here's a cyclamen graceum I started from seed last year. Its blooming. YEAH!
(Its not ready for any shows like those we saw from Galanthophile but its my
start).

And the pot with the other babies I'm working on...

And here's a "living rock" in bloom - actually lithops from T&M seed I
started a couple of years ago. Most of the pictures were really fuzzy
and even the best isn't too great. But I still think its a really interesting
plant.

That's amazing to get blooms of graecum after only a year! I just got one this fall. Mine has no signs of blooms for this year but does have a few leaves.

Thanks Todd! I keep them in my greenhouse, by the evaporative cooler
(they seem to really like the cool air). I guess its almost two years though.
I started it Jan/Feb '04. The ones I started this Jan/Feb '05 are coming out
of dormancy now. Just leaves.

I think graecum needs hot baking during dormancy to maximize flower production...its the only ones that does, even though many can tolerate bone dry and quite warm while dormant.

Hmmm... I'll move them this summer. I can supply hot baking! My greenhouse
gets way too hot.

I love your "living rock," Tammy.

Well done Tammy both for the lovely graecum and that very cute lithops. You are doing something right!

:-) Thank you for the kind words. But I've gotta fess up on the cyclamen.

I've been pouring over my records, prompted by Todd's comments. I think
I have that cyclamen mislabelled! I only started the Graecum one year (last year).
Its gotta be a hederifolium. I do have a nice batch of graecum's in leaf and put
more permanent labels on them. Will post if & when I get them to bloom. The
folliage sure looks like the graecum though. I'm going to need to buy a book on
cyclamen to help with identification!

Looking more carefully at your pictures, I agree your blooming cyclamen is hederifolium. Most of my potted ones are finished but I still have one outside that is smothered in blooms. Most strangely I have a potted one that is now just starting and its flowering without leaves, while all my other hederifoliums currently have plenty of leaves. All are over 7 years old and growing side by side...I have no idea why this individual is so delayed....oh well, it helps to extend the bloom season.
