There was a segment on Propagation with Steve Silk from Farmington, CT. One of the plants he showed how to take tip cuttings from was an "Angel's Trumpet"! He described it by saying, "This is an Angel's Trumpet, it's got huge leaves, huge flowers, an incredibly fragrant plant. One of my favorites! Now it looks like a tree, it is really a tree, it grows though from a 6 inch cutting taken in the fall. It's already about 6 feet tall and it will get alot taller before the seasons out." Then they went on to show how to take the cutting, trim it of leaves and buds, and how to pot it in a half peat/half perlite mix. He uses rooting powder. Then he showed his mini-greenhouse, a sweater box turned upside down with a half inch of water in the bottom. He keeps it under lights. The other plants demonstrated were a Coleus and "Margarete" Sweet Potato Vine.
I spotted at least 3 Brugs when they panned over his garden. I think the Brug he took the cuttings of was "Charles G." but I'm so new to this I could be waaaay off. He also had a pink and a white.
Too cool!

Grrr that would have been so much easier to cut and paste! You should have seen me pausing the DVR every few words. Oh Bother!
Watch that with my second cuppa coffee every Saturday morning.
Sure wish they would bring back
Gardener's Diary and that other one I think was called Spring.
Wow. Can it really grow six feet from fall to spring? I have my first brug from a DG member. It's in the ground and growing new leaves. I am not sure what kind of care it requires.
Plenty of fertilizer and just enough water.
Some seedlings can grow to 10 to 12 feet tall by the end of summer.
Thank you , most of the garden shows are on painting or someone who only has $20,000 dollars to spend on back yard . Sometimes they have shows on gaint vegatables - no names - just this one weighted 800 and that one weighted 820 . There's one called city gardener - all of them say - run out and buy this plant . Did go to web site .
Thanks again
