THE END!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Growing season came to an end here in the wee hours of Saturday, October 22, 2005.
We had a fabolus year. In the misdt of all the drought & hotter than normal temps, our area had sufficient rain. Our gardens were great. We picked bell & hot peppers on Thursday, Oct 20. Broccoli & Cauliflower are still going great. Other cool season veggies did wonderful also, most all summer. My greenhouse tomatoes are the nicest of all season. Sold about 60 lbs yesterday. Outdoor tomatoes can not be found any longer.

Crop farmers here are smileing ear to ear. Dispite a big rain that left lots of fields a mud hole, they are harvesting 50+ bushels per acre of soybeans. Corn harvest has started, again a top yield. A family we are doing some remodeling for, said their 600 acres of corn will produce nearly 110,000 bushels. That's 185 bushel per acre. Only downfall here is high diesel fuel price. Farmers use a lot of that for their tractors, trucks & combines.

Lets here from other areas on your rewards or disasters of the past summer.
