Lovely sight for late October

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

This is my newest addition...planted back in early September and first blooming Oct. 22. This would be a wonderful bulb addition to any rockery. It is Crocus pulchellus 'Zephyr'

The center of the flower is exquisite...no other crocus I know has these distinctive yellow-orange markings.

ooo... I'll have to look for this one.

Its really dark & rainy here today. I was hoping to get out to take
a few last pictures but too wet. Looks like you've got a nice
sunny day up there in St. John's!

Sunny yesterday but grey and drizzly today...the crocus is closed up tight today.

Todd, these pictures, especially the second one, are just fabulous. What a beatiful crocus. My autumn crocuses came and went so quickly that I didn't get to them in time with the camera.

I can't grow goulimyi outdoor here but I do grow it in a pot I overwinter inside. It is just sprouting now. Banaticus is also not hardy here. Speciosus is just showing colour. By the way, I mid-ID'ed my other crocus...it is not Zephyr, its Crocus cancellatus.

galanthophile--your purpley autumn crocus are lovely--

and todd--are your beautiful crocus from a rare bulb supplier or perhaps nargs?

Beautiful pictures, Galanthophile, especially the Oxonian.

Todd and Galanthophile ~~ These are sooo beautiful! I looked at each of those pics several times....and am definitely going to add more of these beauties to my rock garden, and troughs! So very pretty, and at a time when so little is blooming here!

Thanks for sharing these pics!

Jamie
