Boy, I don't know if it is the Eleanors I sprayed on this all year, or it is just happy to be in the house, but this H. lacunosa has just decided to bloom it's fool head off. I have so many flowers falling, I had to set a dishpan under it to catch all the debree. I got under the plant & took this pic looking up at it.
This room smells like a funeral home right now. Ha.
Marcy
Lots o' lacunosa blooms
OMG, Marcy.
That is BEAUTIFUL!
If you ever need a babysitter.....
Tell us, please, what you do to get that plant to look so full and to bloom so much (I want details - step by step).
Ann
I'm going to print out your photo and show my lacunosa what it's supposed to do!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Christina
VERY Impressive!!! Gotta try more Eleanors!!
Wow!! That's gorgeous Marcy. I have a baby plant and I'd love to know what kind of conditions it likes too. :)
Sandy
Marcy that is just awesome. The flowas do remind you of a funeral home, don't they:-). I always use Eleanors in my spray mist bottle, which is what she recommends. Thanks for the reminder Marcy, I'm on my last bottle, I need to pick up some more.
Blessings,
Awanda
How much do you use in a 32 oz spray bottle. Just a couple of drops. I think I was using too much, some leaves started turning yellow. Also wondering if you use ST and how many drops for the same size bottle. Is is safe to use the Elenaor's over the winter?
Heather
Marcy, just breathtaking, I wish I could smell it. I just got 2 gallons of Eleanors, I think I will start dunking them in it. Every one who uses this, do you spray all winter long, or give your hoya's a break? And do you water with it all winter long? I read on the Swedish Hoya Society that you should stop fertilizing in October and resume in March or April, that to much fertilizing would cause the hoya not to bloom. I personally fertilize all winter because I have active growth all winter, I would like to here of everyones fertilizing program.. I'm going to go talk to my lacunosa..
Heather, I use both year round to spray and water with. I use little less than a capful in my 32oz spray bottle of Eleanors. For a gallon container I use 1 capful of ST. I am still using the 35% hydrogen peroxide, however not at every watering. HTH

Awanda
What an absolutely beautiful plant !! The blooms on that are incredible. I have never seen so many blooms on a lacunosa. I bet the fragrance is wonderful
Thank you for posting the picture.
Holy Smokes that's alot of blooms!!! You're such a good hoya mommy!
:) Donna
Marcy, that's about the most beautiful picture of a Hoya that I've ever seen! I didn't used to like white blossoms on plants.. I do now.
Can you tell me what Eleanors is? I've seen it referenced before but hesitated to ask. Is it fertilizer or a hormone/vitamin preparation like ST? Thanks for posting that picture.
Barb
Actually, that plant is not near that pretty when viewed from the side (instead of underneath). Ha. It all hangs out of one side of it's pot because of where I had it hanging while it was growing outside. (you can see the same plant in the first picture I posted in that other thread " Bringing Hoys inside". It is in the middle, just to the left a bit. Big white pot with hydroton in the bottom of it).
As for the Eleanors VF11, I have been just spraying with that a couple times a week & not putting it in the water to water them. However, I am cutting down on all fertilizers now & will probably not use it after this week. I had also been using ST in the water (only the water I water them with), but think I will stop doing that too as I don't think it necessary in winter. I think they like a rest. I still will use it on cuttings or newly rooting stuff though. The only other fertilizer it has had since spring is Shultz's 10-15-19 plant food that I would add a droperfull at each watering.
The plant bloomed on & off all spring & summer, but just a few blooms here & there when it hung ouside in a mostly shaded area. When I brought it in last month, I hung it first in the office where it got about an hour of early morning sun on it & that is when it decided to go nuts with all those blooms. Then it was dropping so many flowers behind my computer, I moved it to the den (west window) so I could put that dishpan under it. It is still getting sun in the afternoon for a couple of hours, but the window is tinted so it is not a burning sun. It is still a happy plant there for sure. I hope it doesnt bloom itself to death and die from stress.
Marcy
Oh Marcy!!! That is GOOOORRRRGEOUS!!
"Eleanors"?!?! What is "Eleanors" and where can I buy it?
...and what is ST?
...and WHY use peroxide?
Com'on ladies - - ed-u-ma-cate the newbie here, will ya? =0)

Marcy, that's too pretty. I'm always jealous when I see a photo of H. lacunosa in bloom. I have killed two plants where the most I ever got was the start of buds that just went yellow and dropped off. I have a new plant that I'm coddling now. Maybe I will get to experience the scent of H. lacunosa yet. Enjoy!

Betsy... I can answer one for you!
ST = Super Thrive From what I understand, it is a vitamin/hormone supplement that gives plants that extra little OOMPH to get going and be a show-off.
Ok Betsy calm down:-). Here's a link where hydrogen was discussed http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/540658/
ST is superthrive, it's not actually a fertlizer, it's more like plant vitamin:-). It can be found at Wal-mart, Home Depot, Lowes and various other places.
Eleanors can be purchased at various places, here is her link
http://www.vf-11plantfood.com/
I forgot to mention that Eleanors will send you a 8oz bottle to sample for $3.00, hopefully the offer still applies.
Blessings,
Awanda
