Queen starting to form a chrysalis

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I've been watching this cat for awhile now, and noticed that it had started to migrate from it's food source. Found it on another tier of my flower beds yesterday, and this is what I found this morning.

I'm surprised you found it! You probably wouldn't have noticed it once it pupates. Now you have to keep checking on it to see it eclose.

Oh, I've been watching this little guy pretty close, And....I don't have too many plants check. Butterfly Garden is still in the construction stage. I'm going to go outside every hour, and check on him. Take updated pictures, and when he's all done, I'm going to bring him into the "house"

The house is definitely the safest for him! I am having a Monarch deficiency this year. I have only had about 10-15 eggs. I might be thinking that it's time for eggs but it's actually a little early. I remember having them around Christmas last year. I have plenty of milkweed, and it's finally looking good since the aphids are mysteriously gone now. I was panicking and now I've got too much. (I might be sorry I said that)

I thought I'd put this picture in of the chrysalis. I just thought it was so beautiful. The picture doesn't really do it any justice, though, because in real life, it's gorgeous. The sun hit the band around the center, and it shined like gold! Literally looked metalic. Truely amazing.

They ARE so beautiful! Your picture is very good, but it's just not like seeing those tiny gold dots in person.
