Must have this plant (or any other member of that genus). Will give my right leg for it!

hiya renwings,

I don't need a leg but would be willing to trade for one or more of the Ephedra sinica I've got. I've got just one plant of E. californica and if your planning on growing it outside you'll have to protect E.californica from your humidity up there. E. sinica I've got a few of and you are welcome to one or a few for trade.

send me a dmail if you're interested. You can keep the body parts...lol.

best,
don

Thank You!
I don't have much info on sinica. You should update the planfiles! There is no helpful info there. While we're on the subject, do you have Ephedra viridis down there too? That variety has little to no ephedra in it, so its safer for medicinal use. The sinica that you have is the asian variety. If I use it, I'll get a nice adrenaline rush. But that's not what I'm after. Californica is another safe variety.
Is it readily available down where you are? Maybe I should just swallow my pride and buy one!
No one up here has any idea what I am talking about!

hiya renwings,

I collect ethnobotanicals and it is always difficult to find any species of Ephedra due to the stigma attached to it by the Fen-Fen debacle a few years back. Yes sinica is Mua-Huang and it does have a rather high level of the stimulant alkaloid in its tissue. I do not have viridis although I've tried to find seeds. You might try going to the Theatrum Botanicum website and do a search for seed there. E. californica is mostly growing in protected areas in our state and wild harvesting of plants or seeds is strictly prohibited.

It's often hard to get past all of the silly inebriation pages on ethnobotanical plant websites, but this site does have a large seed catalog.

best of luck,
don

Companion Plants sells plants and seeds for the viridis I am looking for and the Garden Watchdog raves about them. I am ordering seeds, since I still don't want to shell out $8.50 for shipping a little plant. Would you like some seeds when they arrive?
