AHHH...Chrystal Clear

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Greetings,
The water clarity is finally perfect in the pond. If it could only stay this way in the spring. The fish are so visible I worry that they are too noticable to the predators. This is Wishbone the newest koi.

The koi are getting ready for the long, cold winter.

Old Yella is a fine looking fish. It grew from about 5" to about 15" in one year.

That is a good name for all of them! I could keep them straight! LOL!

I'm loving them! Casper - what a hoot! Thanks for taking the photos and sharing!

lol Thanks! When you say Ole Yella it requires the appropriate sob.
I have really missed everyone! B een working a lot and when I get home it is dark.Everyone's fish, ponds and streams look great. Miss Pixy hope all is well and life is beautiful! Would love to see everyone's pictures and hear funny stories about the season on this thread.
We had a close call a month ago. The hose popped out of the filter and over 12,000 gallons emptied except for abour 20 gallons where the pump held the liner down. All of the fish were huddled together in the little pool. We did not lose a one. Now that was something! lol

Hey! I had the same experience with the hose just two days ago! Fortunately I was standing right there when it happened , so I only lost a bit of water. But I had to reglue the joint.
I'm still traumatized by the movie 'old yeller'. I only saw it once. I couldn't ever watch it again. So I'm afraid I cannot say the name outloud. The sobbing would drown out the rest of the sentence! LOL

Glad your fishies were okay!

I have never seen the movie, it would probably traumatize me. Our flood happened during the day when we were at work. Mark got home just in time for the fish to be rescued.

Man, that is good timing! Yeah, don't watch the Disney movie. You'd have to change that fish's name.

Loretta those are cool fish! Do you leave them in the pond overwinter? Does the pond freeze for you?

Shadow,
I too have very clear water but never worried much about predators, because we are in a residential area and not that close to woods. However, my neighbor called me one day and said she had scared off a huge heron that was perched on my roof eyeing the fish. She estimated the wingspan of 10 foot! He came again once more and we were lucky he wasn't able to get any fish. But I got an old floating alligator repaired and put it in the pond, since then we haven't seen the heron.

Hi Frank,
We have seen some green herons around here but they have pretty short legs so my fish are safe. The variety of wildlife in an urban or residential area might surprise some folks. Hope all is well and you are enjoying life and the tale end of the season.

Loretta
