Can anyone tell me if the pod behind the blooms is fertile?

I have changed the size and quality. Maybe this will work.

Do you mean fertile or fertilized?

If was fertilized it will hang on and form seeds.

To find out if the female flowers are fertile you will need to peel it back or cut a window.
There's a thread here in Tropicals on doing that.

The one you have pictured is not going to bare seed. If it was hybridized or pollinated it would have produced little berries that get about as big as a pea or smaller the bloom hangs on for a few months before they rippen. The seeds are about the size of half a grain of sand. I must ask what for of Colocasia is this. Meaning were did you get it is this the large form seen in Walmarts and other stores? If so it will produce large bulbs if not you will have runners? I am asking because I have not had any luck with the large form producing blooms. Maybe once in 7 years. THANKS

In the pic you can see the fertilized berries and the smaller ones did not take. The pics I have of many of these colocasia seeds and berries are the only ones I have seen pictures ever.

yes, I bought 2 pcks of 2 bulbs, at Wal-Mart. each pack had one large EE and one smaller. The large is about 8 ft tall with 3 ft leaves. I just planted them in April. John

Are they still blooming? I need pollen of this thing? I am hoping to make giant black colocasias. I just messed with 50 seeds off of one flower today. Hopefully some unsual stuff will come from it. Let me know if you have pollen I would like to get some maybe trade or something but if you do place it in a zip lock bag the whole flower with pollen and place in the fridge its only good for a few days unless cooled or frozen. THANKS

I will do just that in the morning. does the flower need be in full bloom still?

If you notice one day you will get a smell from the flower this is usually the best time to place pollen on the flower. The next day it should release its pollen. The fresher the better. It usually is easy to see a yellow off white dust around the the spadix. Usually the spath will open up very wide to lure in insects to carry the pollen off. You can cut this off and ship it with the spadix in a plastic bag if you need to wait place in the fridge. Here is a pic of what I am after. The spath is open and the pollen has recently or just fallen. If you have pollen that looks fresh I am extremely interested thanks. I have 4 flowers now that will be ready this week for pollen. thanks

It is now down in the 40's at night and mid 60's during the day. This is the picture of the bloom I cut today. It is over 12 inches long, the pod behind the bloom is around 8 in. There is several blooms coming behind.
