Another sdling bloomed for me today...
Very delicate looking...I like it!
Seedling Milk and Honey X Sunset (Maya)
I forgot to mention that this is a seedl that I grew since last spring '04...from Poppy Sue!
beautiful!
Sue, I love the shape of the flowers.
I like it too! And it looks like it will color up for you. How long is it?? Does it take after Mama at all in its calyx? It would be cool if the calyx was long like M & H but variegated like Maya. LOL
You have the seedling touch, Margie!!! Sue sure made some good seeds!! I miss her around here.
air layer it!!
Love how its turning peachy
Looks like Maya flowers. Very nice.
You need to buy a taller one!! LOL.
Tom puts up a hoophouse every year, Margie and each year he makes it taller by just adding a few PVC tubes. I think it was up to 12 feet last year. He was afraid it would get airborne in a bad storm. LOL. I used to watch it from the window and pray.
I wonder how much colder you get than my temp. Here I can put a brug under a tree or on my front porch and not worry much about it. That is enough cover to keep it from getting zapped. Of course if we have a really bad freeze they would get it. But then you could drag it in and lay it on its side for a day or 2.
That reminds me, I also have been known to run out at midnight knocking over all my pots and then covering them with sheets and towels on a frosty night. That works great too. Those low to the ground seem to do fine.
Shoot, I can't believe winter is just about here.
I love that....
Kell I am right there with ya I have been known to run outside in my pj's to do something like that....my kids go nuts especially if it is early in the morning.....
The weather this year is so strange. Today it is in the high 90's and Saturday not suppose to make 70.....But that is Texas...This is going to catch me off guard and I will not have the GH up in time I am sure....
Its beautiful. great pictures...
Twyla
Great job raising it, Congrats on such a lovely one!
Thank you all !
Just thinking I could leave these large ones in containers, next to the GH and use the GH to support some sort of cover for them....actually they are taller then the GH now!
Looks like it loves to flower! That's a great quality to have!
I have a great idea, send me a cutting, lol!!! Margie, are you trying to keep her from dying back or do you think the cold will kill her?? Have you ever left one out in a pot just to try it?? I really like her LOTS, my type!!!
Margie,My mom lives in Dublin and she get's almost as cold as I do in Livermore. There is about a 2-3 degree's difference in the winter. She has alot of tree's and she left her's out all winter last year. They got a little damage on the tips, but came right out of it in the Spring. Now me on the other hand, I have left brugs. in pots on my covered patio and had the cold damage them , even when the frost didn't touch them. Most were in gallon to two gallon pots though.
That's really something Patricia, I love hearing about what works in other areas and zones. Get this: Last year, by error, of course, I left Culebra out, in a pot through the worst freeze of the season, knocked all my brugs wintering in the grown, off their feet and Culebra was fine, she was covered, but the hibiscus right beside her, bit the ice. I put Culebra in the ground about a month ago, I'll cut her back before the first hard freeze, build an alter and shrine, do the naked chicken dance and try to hoo doo her into rooting. If all fails, I'm buying another one next year, regardless of the cost, lol, but true, whew, have I got it bad, or what??!!
Margie, It is so pretty.Cindy
