This is the ugliest stick bug we have seen yet. It is a large female with a small male mating on her back. Can anyone tell me anything about this creature??
Not a Butterfly but does anyone know it?
That is the Two-striped Walkingstick (Anisomorpha buprestoides), sometimes known as the Devil Rider http://bugguide.net/node/view/32326/bgimage
Oh, I don't think that's ugly at all!! I was just asking my DH the other day if he's ever seen a walking stick on any of his many boy scout hikes and he said yes, a couple of times. I had never seen one and then TODAY, one of the children in the school I work at brought one in in a jar. I was more excited than they were! Too bad I didn't have my camera.
Oh, I don't know, I'm thinking I agree that it's pretty ugly. lol Even with those stripes being vertical they aren't helping that girl. I have only seen one and it was a lot cuter. It reminded me of the one in "A Bug's Life".
Thanks so much. I also found a website now that I know its name...it sprays..yuck
