I tried a new route to work this fall and someone is growing a brug in a garden on my way. I am embarrassed to say I have never been interested in brugs because I didn't know people grow them here. So now I'm excited about them! But I know nothing! Where can I get them? Which varieties are peachy to warm pink? Do you winter them over inside? Which is your all time fav?
Embarrassed
Someone this song comes to mind, lol
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
Another HOOKED!!
yep hooked and pulled in lol
Lol Boojum and Ms Jen!!
You have discovered them at a good time to get cuttings Boojum, because in anything but zone 9 and above they have to be cut , and usually brought indoors, or otherwise protected for winter. (here in 8b most can come back from the roots)
Lots of peaches, pinks, and dark pinks are around these days. Of the dark pinks, three of my favorites come to mind; Serendipity, Miss Emily (has long curling tendrils!) and Mountain magic. But easier to find are Ecuador Pink,or Butterfly.
Welcome to the Madness!!
Hold still boo while I get that hook removed ..... bwaaahahahahaha
Ouch! This could be bad!
Where do I get these cuttings????? (reel me in for sure-hint, hint)
Just check out the Forum to see who is ofering cuttings.
This time of year is the best to get some for postage ;-)
Listen to Scoot. She looks after me and knows!!LOL
Thanks Scoot.
Seems like they are all taken, but I'll keep looking. Are they hard to root?
The season is just starting , keep looking ;-)
Oh good news!!
Getting some cuttings in the mail!!
I can't believe this. I stopped by the woman's house on the way to work who was growing the brug to ask for a cutting. And she GAVE ME THE WHOLE PLANT! She was just going to let it freeze, so she was thrilled to have it leave. Isn't that too much???????
Now I will cut it back and bring it in for the winter.
I'm a heppy ket.
WOohoo!!!... Boojam I dug up all my brugs and dragged them inside. I hope they make it! I want HUGE ones next year.. of course then I won't be able to get them inside next winter.. DH will be happy
boojum ...You LUCKY GAL :-))) ...can you believe this ? I would have loved to see your surprised and happy look on your face,
Brigitte
Did she know the name ?
No name. They had a few dried up flowers that looked orange on the edge and white on the inside, but when I drove by they looked warm pink. I can only imagine the look on my face! I must have thanked her 50 times. I kept saying stuff like, "Are you sure?" and "I can't believe you gave me the whole plant!" She probably laughed about me the rest of the day!
So next year I'll have 3! Off to a great start.
Congrats boo !
I am so happy for you
(((*-*)))
Well, Good For you!!! I can just hear you! LOL Believe me, when you see a few blooms all at once, you will be tickled! I was!! Congrats!! :-)
Thanks all. Only you guys understand how exciting this is!!!!
Oh Boojam.. Girl I know! It's so hard being so excited and having your family give you that look and slowly back away.. lolol
Boojam this is just the beginning.............next thing you know you will be buying a greenhouse just for your brugs during the winter...this is one addicting plant and this forum has got to be the best and most active of any I am on. You will have many plants before long....
