YES!! Annie, Posie and I are still here!

boone, NC(Zone 5b)

Thanks to all who have been asking about Annie! I would have answered sooner, but I have been gone for the better part of two weeks now and am JUST catching back up to Dave's and have been reading some of your wonderful threads! Thanks for asking.

We are all doing great! Annie is still a terriorist but she is now almost 6 1/2 months old. She weighs 20 pounds but doesn't look it. She still looks quite small. She is a ball of fire and keeps all of us (me, my DH, Posie, and our two 16 year old cats) in a regular frenzy. She still HATES water but will allow me to "bathe" her with a wet rag. She knows sit, stay, down, heel (well, sorta on that one), and come. Now she is quite good on all her commands, but when we take our run/walk in the mornings, she is not 100% reliable on come. She will come to us each and every time, mind you, but wants to do it on her terms. So we are really working on that and trying to get past the teenage stubborness. We are getting there.

By far, Annie's favorite thing (among many favorite things) is her morning walk. Well, it's a walk for us but a hardcore, faster-than-hell, wild-eyed, fancy free RUN for her. She dashes like lightening through the fields and up the mountains. She chases anything and everything that moves--the crows now are on the lookout for her and start complaining bitterly when they see her approach. She is fast as lightening, and in the Spring I hope to start her in agility. A couple of weeks ago, she lickedy-split CAUGHT a mouse on the run. My DH and I chased her as fast as we could to try to get it from her. We finally caught up to her but neither of us wanted to put our hand in her mouth to take the critter out and we have not taught her "drop it" yet. She knew we wanted it and all you could hear was the fast crunching of bones as she tried to get that sucker down her throat before we could get it from her. YECK!! The whole time the long tail of the mouse was hanging out of her mouth, but it went down right along with the rest of the bugger.

We have often wondered what in the world kind of pup Annie is, but we decided that day she is at least in part a rat terrier.

Our other dog, Rosie, now ABSOLUTELY LOVES Annie. I think she thinks of Annie as her very own offspring. If Annie isn't in the room with her, she cries out for her to come--and Annie always does. They share bones, ice cream, the bed, and everything else. They are funny. When we feed them their dinner at night, each eats half and then they switch off bowls. They've got it down to a science.

And lo and behold, my Annie actually likes to be dressed up! LOL!! I NEVER thought I would dress up a dog before, but she loves it. Struts around like a rooster. I have bought her dog charms and rhinestone collars. You just can't imagine how funny this rather silly looking little mutt looks in rhinestones! It is a hoot. The pic above is one of Annie in one of her more casual collar attires.

Annie was spayed about 10 days ago and never missed a beat. We are eagerly awaiting the end of the chewing stage. She has chewed the usual shoes and rugs, but also one of the steps on my stairs and even part of teh kitchen wall. She is especially fond of greenies (my gosh, those things are expensive), her Kong, any yard bone, but most of all her squeaky toys. Our home is littered with now disfunctional squeaky toys. They have been chewed to pieces, and almost all the squeaky mechanisms have lost the fight. We have to hand over a new squeaky to Annie almost every week. Annie's current nicknames are: "Annie Do" (has been shortened to "Do"), "Do-Right", "Blackie" (I know, isn't that awful?), and "Little One."We still have quite a ways to go on her training, but we are getting there and if you come to visit us, she will immediately put her paw up for you to shake. She will talk to you too, I promise.

More silly pics follow--taken just for all of you today!
