Crinums Anyone?

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Today I'm dividing a couple of clumps of crinums. I don't know their specific names. But one is labeled White Spider Lily Crinum. The other is labeled Milk and Wine Crinum.

They have multiplied well since I got them despite all the neglect I've heaped on them. They have tolerated a two month drought as well as flooding without any problem. They have wide, straplike leaves that get 2 to 3 feet long. And the blooms rise up about 24 to 30 inches. They have survived our zone 7a winters very well. I don't know what other zones they'd be hardy in.

These are for TRADE ONLY. None for postage. Please see my post "Tropicals Anyone" for other plants I have to offer. I'm primarily interested in named daylilies and elephant ears that I don't have. I'm an avid collector so I am looking for the unusual, bold, and outstanding.

Below is a pic of the white spider lily which blooms in June for me.

The bulbs are small, about 1/4" to 3/4". But they will quickly grow and can become the size of softballs.

Would you consider one of the spider criniums for Daylily-Fanclub. I also have Jason Salter and Always Afternoon. Here is a photo of Fanclub...cool because of the purple veining.

Your Milk and Wine Crinum is so beautiful. what is the size of the bloom, same like Amrylis bloom's size?

Kaleem, the Crinums are related to Amaryllis, and the blooms are about the same size. I don't think they're fragrant, but then I'm not a sniffer (no time to stop and smell the roses yet). LOL

Thripmaster, I'd love to trade with you. Let me get back to you later this weekend. I'll be tied up all day tomorrow building a privacy fence. I'll email you Sat night or Sunday, ok? I'm interested in Fanclub and possible Always Afternoon.

Ok. Sounds good.

NancyAnn I have a great crinums that are more of a solid mauve - no name came from a farm I am told. I will have a small one ready next year to trade if you are interested (I know names matter! just thought I would offer). It would be a trade in the works if you are intested. I have seen a full bed of crinums and the home of this man down the road who dug them out - he has 30 diffrent named ones in a huge bed really a photo shot waiting to happen. If you ever get down here to my neck of the woods we will have to drive ya by.

Hey Mitch, I'm sure I'll be back in your neck of the woods again one day. I'm hooked on Texas, ya know! Many of my favorite people are down there, and I've always been in love with that big old state. LOL

I do have a mauve crinum as well as a few others, but they're still small clumps. I'm hoping the new place I'm moving them to will inspire them to multiply.

Just wanted to make sure - I will keep my eye out when I am digging out on farms looking for plants to see if they have any others out there.

We like to think that everyone is hooked on Texas!

Nancy would you be interested in a C. Royal White bulb for the C.Milk and Wine?

Hey Ronda, I have that one too. It's a small clump now, but I know it will grow. Thanks anyway.
